After a quick freshen-up, I stepped into the room and made my way to the dressing table. The evening light filtered softly through the curtains as I sat down, picking up the brush to run it through my hair.

Across the room, near the window, Arron stood motionless, staring out as if lost in thought.

I didn't enjoy being in the same space as him, but I didn't have a choice either.

As custom dictates, husbands and wives are expected to share rooms-at all times, no exceptions.

I began brushing down my red locks, doing my best to ignore his presence.

But despite my efforts, my eyes flicked toward the mirror... and landed on his reflection. He wasn't looking outside anymore. He was looking at me. His eyes were still, unreadable.

"You have something to say?" I asked, not bothering to look at him directly. My gaze remained fixed on my reflection, fingers moving rhythmically through my hair.

His lips parted slightly, like he was about to speak-but then he closed them again, swallowing whatever thought had crept up.

"What?" I pressed, a little sharper this time. I didn't even know why his silence irritated me so much, but it did. Even looking at his face annoyed me these days.

"Your hair has grown... longer," he said at last.

Now what? This prick has an issue with my hair?

I was about to bite back when he added, quietly-

"It looks pretty."

That made me pause.

"Uh? Yeah, I know, right?" I said, lifting my chin slightly with a smug grin.

Arron chuckled under his breath, a dry sound. "Certainly."

I turned my attention back to the mirror, brushing through the last few tangles. Rosetta looked gorgeous, as always. But my thoughts drifted-suddenly, I was reminded of the Princess from earlier today. She had looked like something out of a dream. Her ash-blonde hair was braided intricately, laced with pearls. Ethereal. She always looked that way.

Of course, Rosetta was beautiful in her own right. Stunning, actually. But her beauty stood in stark contrast to the Princess's.

Rosetta's beauty wasn't quiet or dainty. It was bold. Unapologetic. Like the blazing sun-radiating warmth, impossible to ignore.

But the Princess... her beauty was rare, subdued. The kind that draws breathless silence instead of stares. Like a piece of glass art so delicate you're afraid to touch it. Like moonlight on a still lake. Like something holy.

Rosetta usually kept her hair open, but now I couldn't help but wonder how she'd look with a different hairstyle.

A braid, maybe-like the one the Princess wore.

Grinning to myself, I twisted my fingers through my red strands, giggling at the thought. It reminded me of those makeup games I used to play in my past life. Rosetta could've easily been one of those pretty characters-maybe even outshining them.

Feeling playful, I began braiding my hair with newfound enthusiasm.

But... wait.

This doesn't feel right.

I struggled with the sections, trying to remember how it was supposed to go. Finally, after what felt like a mini wrestling match, I sat back and looked in the mirror.

"Oh God, what the fuck!?" I blurted, horrified.

My hair was a mess. A disorganized jungle of knots with no resemblance to a braid.
