His arms locked around her waist a little tighter, with a desperate strength, pulling her against him as though he could fuse her to his body, bind her there forever. He buried his face against her softness again, voice breaking as the words spilled out.
"I love you, Rosetta... Please, come back to me! You're mine and only mine!"
Hot tears streaked down his cheeks, soaking her skin. He hated himself for crying in front of that vile man, but no force in the world could stop his tears now.
Holding her like this, from so close.
There was a time he could only dream of it...
He loved her to death.
And the thought of losing her again in the morning after having her from so close tonight was a torment his heart could not endure...
But Rosetta, too drunk to grasp the weight of his words, couldn't take any of it seriously.
Instead his forcefulness only irritated her nerves.
"Hey, stop that. It's already hot enough, and now you're trying to suffocate me?" she said, then removed his hands from her waist.
The alcohol had made her body warm, her senses dull.
"I'm gonna take a shower," she muttered, pushing herself off the bed.
Christopher just stared at her, stunned.
So did Arron.
Rosetta grabbed a towel and entered the bathroom. But before she could close the door, Christopher blocked the door with his arm.
"R-Rosie, wait!" he stammered.
"What?"
"Uh... let's take a shower together," he blurted after a pause.
"No. You can take it after me," she replied flatly.
Her cold tone hit harder than a slap. She tried to shut the door again, but his arm stayed there.
"Oh, God, what now?" she groaned, irritation dripping from every word.
"No... Did I-did I do something wrong?" His voice faltered, the confusion plain in his eyes. He couldn't recognize this cold woman in front of him.
"Yeah."
"What is it, Rosie? Please tell me. I swear, I won't do it again," he pleaded.
"Then get lost."
"Huh?"
"I said get lost from my face," she snapped, and slammed the door so hard he jerked his arm back in reflex.
For a second, Christopher stood there frozen, staring at the closed door.
Then Arron's laughter broke the silence. Cold, mocking and empty.
Christopher turned sharply, rage flaring in his eyes.
"In the end, the prince is still nothing but a loser," Arron said with a cruel smirk.
"What did you just say!?" Christopher snarled, charging at him.
"I said you're a bloody loser," Arron repeated, slow and deliberate.
"Don't cross the line, you scumbag!" Christopher's voice trembled with fury.
"Why? Hit a nerve?" Arron taunted, his blue eyes glinting beneath the fall of his blond hair. "Face it. You're nothing special to her. Just another man she'll forget by morning."
