"Hurry! Get the carriage ready!" I order the servant.
"Sure Milady." He bows and takes his leave.
"Don't you want to stay for a bit longer?" asks, Arron who was seated at the opposite corner of the bed.
"Stay for what? I have no business staying here. Coming here was a mistake..."
"Well, your dear friend might have planned something interesting for you" He smirms.
"Dear friend? What? Who?" I raise my brows in confusion.
"Who knows. He might be coming here any minute." He says, vaguely.
And just then I hear a knock at the door.
"Who is it?"
"His highness, the crown prince is here to see you, Milady" I hear the voice of a servant outside.
Christopher??
What is he doing over here?
"Are you gonna let him stand over there?" Arron asks noticing my silence.
"No...uh-" I stutter.
"He might have an interesting surprise for you..."
Now what?
Even more surprises are left for me?
"I beg your Pardon- Is the Duchess present inside?" The servant asks again receiving no response.
"Uh yeah...You may enter" I say.
The servant opens the door as Christopher enters, along with two other guards.
His handsome face full of guilt and remorse...
I notice Arron getting up from his place to bow and pay his respects, but Christopher pays no heed to him and walks up to me.
Are you alright? You must have been very scared after being chased by a wild animal like that right? I deeply apologise, even I myself do not know where it came from and why it was there in the palace gardens...I swear this will never happen again!" He sincerely apologises.
"No...Its okay..." I smile awkwardly.
He's being surprisingly very serious.
"She's absolutely fine today, your highness but I think she's looking forward to your promise..." Arron cuts in.
What Promise??
What's going on?
Christopher fixes his throat and says,"Yes, definitely. I always keep my promises"
"Sorry, what is this all about? Am I missing something?" I ask.
"I see that you haven't informed the Duchess about it" Christopher says looking at Arron.
"No, I wanted you to be the lucky guy since you made the promise" Arron simply smirks.
"That would be my pleasure" He replies.
Then turning towards me with a reassuring smile, he goes on, "I know you would wish to take rest but please spare me a few minutes of your time and follow me to the royal court"
"The royal court?? Umm sorry but for what?" I ask.
"I wish to keep a promise..." He says vaguely and orders the servant to accompany me.
I look at Arron and he nods, signalling a 'yes'.
Without thinking much, I decide to follow them.
As we reach the royal court, I am surprised to see a crowd of ladies and gentlemen of the high society.
