Morning came again.

By the time I opened my eyes, Arron was already gone.

I had slept so deeply, the night before felt like a blur.

"Ugh... my head," I muttered, pressing my fingers to my temple.

Then..

It hit me.

Something strong slammed into my senses, sharp and overwhelming.

It was powerful. Unmistakable.

My lips twitched involuntarily as I shot upright, eyes fixed on the door.

"No... no way."

I wanted to deny it. I Needed to.

But the sensation was too strong, too real to ignore.

No... this can't be happening.

That sick bastard.

The great hall of Evermore Villa buzzed with early excitement - polished hooves clacked against the stone, rifle barrels gleamed under the pale southern sun, and hounds yipped restlessly in the background. Stable boys dashed about, guards saddled mares, and nobles gathered with a curious tension in the air - eager to step onto a stage soaked in blood.

I stood at the top of the staircase, dressed in hunting attire with my hair tied in a ponytail, trying not to look visibly out of place as I looked down at the courtyard below.

"Deep breaths, Erika. You can do this. Hunting is simple - you just pick up the rifle, aim, and shoot. Right?"

I laughed under my breath.

Fuck. Who am I kidding?

This isn't a video game.

And these people - they're fucking insane. They go out and shoot actual animals for fun? Why is this considered recreation? What kind of lunatics enjoy this?

Why the hell did I come here...

I adjusted the riding gloves on my trembling hands. But my body - or rather, Rosetta's body - moved with practiced grace. There were reflexes, muscle memories still embedded deep within.

As I took a step forward, already regretting agreeing to this twisted hunting trip...

I tripped.

A soft gasp escaped my lips as I stumbled down the last few steps, catching nothing to break the fall, my leg twisting awkwardly. Something tugged at my ankle - my bootlace, completely undone and dragging behind me like a limp.

Gasps and snickers echoed across the courtyard.

"I told you," muttered Rivalls, elbowing Lord Walter with a sharp smirk. "This is exactly why women shouldn't be riding into the wild like men. It's dangerous. They don't belong here."

A few nobles laughed.

Great. Laugh at me, you Cunts.
As if none of you have ever made a mistake in your lives!

Marquis Rivalls, standing beside Walter, let out a tight laugh but said nothing. He wasn't foolish enough to insult the Duchess openly.

My face flushed with heat... not just from the pain in my ankle, but from the sting of humiliation that burned across my skin like a slap.

I straightened up- and someone was already beside me.

Arron.

Oh God. Not him. Not now.
