"Kaya! Lets go!" I hear Crystal cry in pain softly. "Kaya! Now!" I open up my eyes, and we are on the ground. "No time for questions, get up!" Crystal says louder. She grabs my wrist, and pulls me as we sprint through the jungle.

"What...why are we running?" I say in between breaths.

"I heard...or saw something...all I know is that it wasn't...it wasn't a tribute."

"What do you mean it wasn't a tribute!" I shout.

"This way!" She calls back. It's still dark outside, but I could still see her blonde hair a few feet ahead of me. "Over here!"

She pulls me behind a huge rock, and we both sit there catching our breaths. Luckily, I slept with my bag strapped on me, so when we left, I had it. I hand her my halfway filled water bottle after I have a few sips. "Okay, now tell me...oh my god! Look at your arm!" I shriek. On her left arm lies a deep cut from her shoulder to her elbow. She looks at it for a second and passes out. I start panicking. If she was dead, a cannon would fire. I remind myself. She is loosing a lot of blood. I rip my pack open and wrap my jacket around the wound. What would be great to treat it would be the medicine I received last night, but the other half of our group has it.

Since Crystal is still unconscious, and we have little protection, I stay awake and stand guard.

Think. Think of a plan. We are somewhere in between the ocean, and the cornucopia because after all, this is an island. I lay Crystal down on the ground so I can peek around. Standing up, I see trees and more trees all around us. But everything seems quiet, so we must be safe. Either that, or the gamemakers need a break.

But what attacked Crystal? She said it wasn't a tribute, but something else.

Rain starts to fall lightly, so I open my water bottle to stock up on water. I turn back to Crystal, where she looks like she is in a peaceful sleep.

Ow! Something just stung me. There is a burning sensation on my arms. There are holes all over my jumpsuit. The size of rain droplets. This isn't rain.

"Crystal! Wake up now!" I cry as the burning continues. She isn't waking up, but I didn't hear a cannon so she is alive.

I am not that strong, but she is younger and smaller than me, so I pick her up and take my bag with me as I run. But where? Where do I go? The trees are effected by it, the leaves are too. Even the rock we hid behind made sizzling sounds as the rain fell on it. I know where to go. There will be others there too. The cornucopia.
