You were tired, drained and worried. You were currently sitting with Ron and Hermione on the entrance stairs, Harry had been gone for quite some time now and you were starting to get very nervous. Ron and Hermione were cuddling up to each other, feeling like the third wheel was an understatement but you knew thinking that was wrong for this situation right now.

A tear slowly fell down your cheek when you heard footsteps walking down the staircase you were sat on, your head turned so fast you swore your neck clicked. You face lightened, it was Harry. Your heart starting beating so fast, you ran into a crushing hug, which probably didn't help you both. "I was so worried, I thought you went into the forest" you said tears rolling down your cheeks. You pulled away walked back over to Ron and Hermione, Harry following you.

"We all thought you went Harry? Where have you been?" Hermione asked a worried expression cast over her features. Harry didn't say anything he just looked down, you walked over and squeezed his hand for reassurance, Harry looked up and had a look of sadness on face. "Harry, what do you know?" Hermione asked noticing Harry was hiding something, you noticed as well and looked him in the eye.

"I need to go" he said letting go of his hand. Ron had a look of what-hell-are-you-thinking plastered on his face "what do mean mate? Don't go to him, don't let him have his way!" Harry shook his head.

"It's the only way" he replied simply. The tears falling down your face never stopped, Ron looked down with tears in his eyes and Hermione broke out in tears. "I'll go with you" she muttered in tears. Harry shook his head again, Hermione gave him a long hug before pulling away. That's when Harry turned to you "Harry" you cried as walked over to you, he took his hands in yours "River listen to me. Be safe, stay with Ron and Hermione. Don't try and find me when I go, I'll be with you. River I love you."

Harry leaned in kissed you passionately, you quickly melted into his touch and kissed passionately back. After a sentimental moment you stopped you whispered "I love you too" against his lips before pulling away. Harry walked away slowly to his fate, you didn't know if you could cry more tears but apparently you could. Hermione came over and hugged you also with a tear stained face. "That's it" you mumbled.

"It will be ok, you'll be ok River" Hermione said comforting you. Ron walked over and joined the hug. The fears of You-know-who taking over swimming around in your mind.

It has been a good few hours since Harry left for the forest and you were in the great hall with casualties and unfortunate losses, it was a heart braking moment. The amount of damage a war can cause you could feel tears clouding your eyes again but someone called out getting everyone's attention "they're back, the death eaters are returning!"

You instantly went on a run to the entrance of the burnt down and ruined Hogwarts to the courtyard Ron and Hermione on your backs "River wait!" They both said. You didn't hear them the only person that was on your mind was Harry. You ran out to the courtyard where people were gathered and stopped near Ginny. You could Arther, Molly, Goerge, Neville, Kingsley, what was left of the order and Hogwarts students standing outside.

A wave of black robes was nearing the entrance to the once magnificent castle, you frowned and arched your eyebrows. What made your breath stop was who Hagrid was carrying in his arms "Hermione, Ron who's that? Who's that Hagrid's carrying?" You whimpered tears starting to fall. Just as you asked your question was answered when Voldemort shouted out "Harry Potter is dead!"

"NOOO!" You screeched runnin towards Harry, Ron instantly grabbed hold of you and pulled you back. "You stupid girl! Harry Potter is dead, there is nothing you can do now!" Voldemort snarled making his death eaters laugh. "No, no no" you said over and over again. Ron let go of you and you stood there heart broken and defeated, your true love was lying there in front of you, dead.
