Cedric x Reader

A/N: Hello! Wasn't sure how to go about writing this request but I tried my best and hope you like it :)

So far you hated this year, you hated the Tri-wizard tournament it was too dangerous and you knew the next task. The third task wasn't going to go right. You didn't know what it was, but something felt off and you didn't want anyone to get hurt. You just wanted the whole thing to end. You wanted it to end.

You were walking back to your house common room from the library after finishing an essay when you bumped into someone, you mentally slapped yourself for not looking where you were going. Luckily the victim of your clumsiness caught you in time, you looked up and saw Cedric an amused smile on his face. "You alight there Y/N"

You and Cedric were quite close friends. His grey eyes lighting up at you, you could feel yourself blush not paying attention to what he just said. "Y/N?" He asked

You mentally slapped yourself again...you didn't have a crush on Cedric..

"Oh right, thanks sorry for bumping into you. Wasn't looking where I was going" you apologised , rambling on slightly. Cedric chuckled "it's ok"

"Well done, with the second task by the way, first one out" you complimented, smiling.

Cedric gave another chuckle "I'm surprised you're giving me compliments. The amount of times you've mentioned it's too dangerous"

"It is too dangerous! I don't why there would be such a tournament!"

"Oh Y/N, that's what makes the tournament, is there was no danger then it would not be held" Cedric said counteracting your comment. You smiled "I guess..yeah no I'm still not convinced"

Cedric laughed and started walking with you "why am I not surprised, Y/N you worry too much"

"No I don't I just-" you cut yourself off from saying too much and embarrassing yourself.

"You just?" Cedric asked confused.

"Sorry Cedric I've um, I've got to run, essays and all that" then you took off down the corridor muttering to yourself "idiot, I'm such an idiot!"

Cedric shook his head grinning and took off towards the Hufflepuff common room.

The next couple of days, you just keep your eyes away from him. Sometimes he would notice and smile, then you would blush crimson and avoid eye contact until your out the room. It was getting ridiculous, ridiculous to point where you knew he going to find out or figure out your crush on him. What you didn't know that, that day was going to be today.

"Y/N" he said making you jump, you were sat on a bench outside reading, Cedric chuckled and sat down next to you. "Cedric you scared the hell out of me!" You remarked placing your book down.

"That's because you were too engrossed in your book to realise I was standing there" Cedric explained with a grin "what are you reading?" He asked picking up your book and observed the cover.

"Nothing important" you said quickly trying to get it back, Cedric had other ideas. "Cedric give it back, you book thief!"

Cedric laughed and placed the book was in your hands "I'm only playing"

You frowned "well it wasn't funny"

You flipped through the pages to where you read last and placed your bookmark within the pages for later. When you looked back up, you hadn't realised Cedric had moved closer so your thighs were touch and his face was inches from yours.

You smiled, not sure what to do "Ced-"

He placed a finger on your lips and whispered "don't speak"

You nodded and let out a breath you didn't know you holding. What was he doing?

Cedric then leaned closer smiling and touched your lips with his, it wasn't until you were kissing him when you started kissing him back. You pulled away eyes wide "Cedric wh-"

"I like you Y/N" he replied. You smiled and felt the awkwardness lift away.

"I like you too" you said

"I know. You haven't made it hard to work out Y/N, I have noticed" you started blushing again, you knew he would find out.

"Take a walk with me?" He asked smiling

"Ok" you placed your hand in his and walked through the courtyard into the castle until you were near the black lake. "You going to cheer for me for the third task tomorrow?"

The clouds above you turned darker with the time, when you replied "third task"

"Yeah, you haven't forgotten have you?"

"No, no" you shook your head, bad feeling settled within you. The third task, what was it about it that made feel uncomfortable and nervous.

"Y/N are you ok? You don't look well" Cedric asked, concerned look on his features.

"Yeah I'm fine" you replied too quickly, you looked up at him and said seriously "Cedric, you can't go into the third task. Please back out, I don't want you getting hurt-"

"I'm not going to get hurt Y/N, why you getting nervous all of a sudden?"

"Cedric please, you've got to back out. There's something not right, I don't what it is but I don't like it and I don't want you to get hurt. Please Cedric"

Cedric smiled down at you "I'm sure your just nervous Y/N, I'm going to be fine. Come on its raining let's get back inside"

"No, Cedric please listen to me!" You said voice raising louder "please, don't do it. There's..there's so,etching defiantly not right and I don't want you putting yourself in danger and getting hurt. I just..please don't do it"

Cedric looked at you his eyes misty "Y/N, I know it's dangerous but I have to do it. I can't back out-"

"But you have to-"

"I can't, please calm down, I'll be fine ok. I promise I'll be careful"

You didn't know what else to say you knew you couldn't persuade him more "ok" you said weakly.

At the day of the third task you met up with Cedric before he left for task "Cedric, please-"

"Y/N you know I can't"

You sighed and took his hands in yours "then please, please be careful. I don't want to loose you"

"You won't loose me, I'll be back." Cedric then leant in and gave you a soft, gentle kiss before he left for the task ahead. You prayed to Merlin that he'll be alright, that he'll come back out ok.
