9.3. The Dark Wizard

Alex couldn't tell how much time had passed after being knocked out by the gas. She was awoken by Tom, who was also shaking Dan.

When Alex woke up, she was met with the ground shaking, objects falling onto the floor and a headache from being kicked in the face.

"Dan, Alex, it's started; he must have fired the gravity weapon", Tom sputtered. Dan and Alex stood up (Alex had to use the table to help her to her feet) and hurried over to the elevator, just as the doors started to close. Alex saw her other teammate starting to wake up.

"I think that is the quickest that I have ever gotten up after a sleep," Alex said to the boys.

They ran out of the broom closet, back into their Blade Con costumes and ran to the front of the school.

The gravity weapon was hidden inside the blade quest statue, and there was a bright red beam coming from the sword of the statue, and the Dark Wizard was watching as the moon slowly came closer and closer to Earth.

Tom, Alex and Dan came bursting through the school doors.

"The gravity weapon", Dan stated. The Dark Wizard turned to face them after hearing Dan.

"Luke Blade, you're too late", the Dark Wizard said directly to Dan as he was dressed as 'Luke Blade'

Tom ran forward and tried to tackle the Dark Wizard, but the Dark Wizard just pushed him away, and he fell to the floor.

It was Dan's turn to attack the Dark Wizard. He ran forward and aimed a punch towards his face, but the Dark Wizard blocked him by holding Dan's arms. Dan used his free hand to remove the mask from the Dark Wizard's face.

The man behind the mask was... William Todd Williams

"You", Dan said in surprise.

As Dan was distracted by William Todd Williams, he took the opportunity to push Dan away. Dan went flying onto the floor.

"Oh, my turn, I guess", Alex said as she started to run towards the Dark Wizard, but William Todd just held up his staff, and the ends began to glow red.

"Alex, STOP!" Dan shouts at her. Alex stopped immediately and held her hands up to show she wouldn't do anything.

"I don't understand, why?" Tom said to William Todd Williams, taking his attention off Alex.

"I've grown weary of make-believe. Once civilisation has been levelled, I will have the real world to mould as I see fit", William Todd explained his reasoning to Tom.

"Everybody follow me", Mr Flatley's voice came to the team's ears as he and the rest of the comic con exited the school. Mr Flatly freezes as he sees what is happening.

"What's going on?" Mr Flatly asks as he looks at Dan and Tom still on the floor and Alex standing with her hands up.

Alex sees that the rest of her team had come out with Mr Flatly, and as she and Zoe looked at each other, Zoe gave her a nod, silently asking if she was okay.

Frank and Anisha rushed over to Tom and Dan, helping them off the floor, but Alex stayed still. She didn't dare to move. She didn't fancy being struck by what was on the end of the Dark Wizard's staff.

"Frank, if we don't realign the moon back into its orbit, it will be the end of the world", Tom explained.

"And the dawn of a glorious new one", William Todd Williams tells everyone with a big smile on his face, not seeing how Zoe had snuck around him. She kicked him in the back, making him fall forward. Alex used this time to run over to the gravity weapon while they were fighting.
