I have so much to tell you, but I'll leave it in the comments later, after the story.

I hate university ihihihih it won't let me write.

And this chapter is a request from a reader, which is basically: Jude is way too tired but still wants to bang Cardan, but Cardan doesn't want to when she's like that.
That leads to a bath. A sinful one eheheheh

Hope you like it!

JUDE'S POV:

"Thank you for your help. I hope you'll return soon," Nicasia says with a graceful smile. "You'll be welcomed with hospitality."

Perched atop a pale shark, her long blue hair is pinned up with sharp combs and adorned with pearls and shells from the Undersea. Wet strands cling to her face and chest, and her dress - if it can even be called that - is more water than fabric, nearly transparent and molded to her body. The cold saltwater has glued everything to her skin, and a cascade of gemstone necklaces glitters against her neck.

"Thank you, Nicasia," Cardan replies, adjusting the crown a knight placed on his head when we emerged from the sea. "Perhaps we'll return when the water's warmer. My wife and I are not exactly fans of icy swims."

Nicasia chuckles, the breeze catching a few free strands of her hair that are not clinged to her royal face. "Yes, you never did like cold water."

"The sea was practically glacial today," I mutter, pulling my cloak tighter.

"The sea is always cold," she replies, arching a brow.

"Well, then I guess we'll never visit again," I quip, standing beside Cardan.

Cardan lets out a laugh, warm and genuine, and even Nicasia snorts before tapping her shark lightly.

"Not everyone is made to endure the rigidity of the ocean," she says with a shrug, her bluish skin glistening under the faint winter sunlight.

"Yeah, the only rigidity Jude was made to withstand is my-

My elbow finds his ribs with deadly precision. He lets out a strangled sound that's half-laugh, half-wheeze.

My smile to Nicasia is sweet and innocent. "Perhaps you'll join us for the next ball, if things settle down in your kingdom."

"Send me a proper invitation and I'll bring a gift," she says, calm as ever. "Thank you for honoring Elfhame's treaty with the Undersea. Now, I must depart. Duty calls, as you understand."

"Of course. Safe journey, Nicasia," Cardan says, still slightly hunched from my well-placed jab.

She raises an eyebrow at me. "Thank you. Now you should go. The Mortal Queen looks like she's about to faint."

"I'm not about to faint," I snap, "but I might die of hypothermia."

"Farewell then," she says, amused. With a tug of her reins, the shark turns, her guards following suit, and they vanish into the water like mist.

Cardan and I trudge toward the carriage, both soaked and freezing. He helps me up despite the slight wince he tries to hide from the elbow jab earlier.

Once we're inside and the door shuts, it's like being in a very damp, very cold coffin.
