Organizing a funeral is stressful. Thinking about everyone that should come and all the effort it takes to make sure everything is in order. My mum took charge for most of it, except talking to my dad's family, like aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.
But all of that planning went relatively easy, leading up to today, the funeral.
I got up and showered and dressed in a black fit and flare dress. Whatever make-up I put on, I wore water-proof, as I expected for there to be tears today.
"Hey Minxie, almost ready?" Joe asked as he walked out of the restroom.
"As I'll ever be," I smiled.
"You'll do great," Joe smiled giving me a kiss.
We planned to meet my mum and James at the cemetery, as they were already there.

As expected, the funeral brought on a lot of tears. I met up with a lot of family, which was nice to see them all again, but unfortunate considering the circumstances.
I introduced Joe to a lot of my family, to which many questions were asked from my grandparents from my dad's side.
"When are you two getting married?"
"When will there be children?"
"How long have you been together?"
Along with many, many more, including a wide variety of intrusive and assuming questions, accompanied with implied answers.
That's one thing that my mum and dad had in common, they both ask a lot of questions, which is a common trait with the rest of the family.
Overall, I think the funeral was good closure for me.
"You alright?" Joe asked as we drove back to his flat after the funeral.
"Yeah, I'm good," I smiled and leaned over to give Joe a kiss on the cheek while he drove.
"Don't distract the driver," Joe teased.
"Oh sure," I smiled sarcastically.
Joe rested his hand on my thigh, giving it a slight squeeze.
Once we arrived at his flat, I officially decided to just be happy and not focus on my dad's death. Some may think that I'm moving on too fast, not mourning his death. But I know, a hundred per cent sure, my dad would not want me to mourn his death, but to move on and be happy.
Also along with planning the funeral, my mum and James planned a week away for my birthday, in Florida, and once they agreed for Joe to come, they decided to stay home and let us go alone, which surprised me.
"I'm excited to go away," I smiled, "It'll just be us two."
"Just us two?" Joe asked excitedly.
"Yeah! My parents said they trust us enough to go alone, and we're old enough, so..." I smiled.
"Yes!" Joe laughed dramatically.
He wrapped his arms around me and squeeze my bum.
"Hey!" I squealed, swatting away his hands.
Joe leaned forward, giving me a big kiss. But as soon as we started kissing, we stopped, as we were interrupted by Caspar walking into the flat.
"Look what I interrupted," Caspar joked.
This is becoming a recurring scenario. Caspar always happens to interrupt us.
"Shut up," Joe joked, giving me a kiss before taking off his shoes by the door.
