"Come in, we can hang out here for a bit if you want?" Joe offered as we stopped by his flat after ice cream.
"Sure!" I smiled.
"Minx!" Caspar cheered as we walked in, "Oh, and Joe..." He joked.
"Hey Caspar," I grinned as he enveloped me in a hug.
"So what are you two up to?" Caspar smirked, raising his eyebrows.
"Just hanging out," I smiled.
"Alright, alright," Caspar smiled.
We sat down and Joe tried teaching me to play the Xbox with him. However, I failed miserably. Caspar and Joe played for a bit and I watched and went on my phone.
"Should we all go for dinner? We have no food," Caspar suggested.
Joe looked at me and shrugged his shoulders.
"Yeah," I smiled.
"Alright! Let's go!" Caspar laughed loudly.
We decided to get a cab, so we could all have a drink and not worry about driving. We sat down at the restaurant at a small booth. Joe sat next to me and Caspar sat across from us.
"Wait, are you two official?" Caspar laughed quietly.
"Um..." Joe stumbled.
"No, not really," I said.
"Oh, sorry," Caspar said.
"No, it's fine," Joe smiled.
We changed the topic of the conversation and continued talking. After we all ate, we called a cab to take us back to Joe and Caspar's flat.
"Minx, are you sleeping over?" Caspar asked.
"Well, I was actually gonna go back with her to her house," Joe interrupted.
"If you'd rather stay here?" I shrugged.
"No! Go have fun! But not too much fun!" Caspar smirked.
"Okay, I need to get some clothes," Joe said guiding me downstairs to his room.
Joe got a bag from his dresser and packed some clothes. I looked around his room, his bed took up a lot of the room and then he had two computers next to each other and a tripod camera set up around his messy desk.
"Sorry everything is a bit messy," Joe apologized.
"It's no problem," I smiled walking back to Joe.
"Ready?" Joe asked after he grabbed his toothbrush and other necessities.
"Yup," I smiled.
Joe carried his bag upstairs and I followed along. We said goodbye to Caspar and I gave him a hug before we left and got a cab back to James' house.
"I really appreciate it," I smiled to Joe as we got inside.
"It's really no problem."
Joe set his stuff down and we settled down. All of a sudden my phone started ringing. Looking at the caller i.d. I saw it was my dad.
"Hold on, it's my dad, I gotta take this," I said to Joe.
Joe nodded and I walked into the kitchen.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Minx, how are you?" My dad said quietly.
"I'm alright, just hanging out at the house with a friend, you okay?"
"Yeah, well, I'm in a bit of a dilemma, I was wondering if you can pick me up and drive me home?"
"Dad, are you okay? Yeah! I can get you, where are you?"
"Honey, I'm outside the bar on Wyndham," My dad mumbled.
"Okay, I'll be right there," I said frantically.
"Minx, please don't tell your mum," My dad said distressed.
"Ok?" I said before hanging up.
I walked back through to where Joe was sat.
"This is embarassing, but can we run out really quick? I'll explain on the way, we just have to go," I said.
"Yeah, no problem, are you okay?" Joe asked sincerely.
"Yeah, let's go," I said grabbing my keys.
We got in the car and I started heading towards the bar.
"So honestly, I don't know what's going on, but my dad called me and said he needed me to pick him up at the bar, I'll tell you more later," I said as we pulled up to the bar.
I got out the car and my dad was slumped against the wall of the bar, I almost didn't recognize him. He was beat up, a black eye, and his hair a mess. A security guard stood out of the bar.
"What happened?" I said loudly, "This is my dad!"
"He drank a bit too much and got in a fight with another guy, so he was thrown out," The big guard explained.
I nodded my head and went to help my dad up. His shirt was untucked and dirty and his tie was loosened around his neck.
"Dad! Are you okay? Get in the car," I said helping him up.
"Thank you," My dad mumbled.
I helped him into the back seat.
"Dad, this is Joe," I said.
"Hi Joe, sorry about this," My dad mumbled.
I got back in the car and drove to my dad's house. I helped him inside and helped him to his bed, before saying goodbye and leaving him. Sure, maybe I should've stayed to make sure he's okay, but he doesn't deserve being pampered after getting drunk and going back to his old ways.
"I'm really sorry about that," I said as I got back in the car.
"Minx, it's okay," Joe nodded, putting his hand on my thigh.
"Um, when I was a lot younger, this was a regular occurence, but my mom tried to play it off as normal so I didn't know how dysfunctional the family really was," I nodded.
"Minx, I am so sorry," Joe said, now rubbing his thumb in small circles on my thigh.
"No, it's okay, I'm just upset that he would do that again, fall back into his bad habits," I shrugged.
"Well, don't worry about him right now, he'll probably be knocked out for a day, we can just hang out," Joe smiled.
"Thank you," I nodded.
We arrived back at the house and we went up to my room. I set up my laptop and we decided to watch Netflix. We sat against the headboard of my bed and watched Netflix together. I got up to quickly change into shorts and a shirt. I was wearing modest underwear so I wasn't really bothered about changing in front of Joe. He was too focused on the show to notice, I think.
"You okay?" Joe asked as I sat back down on the bed.
"Yeah," I smiled.
Joe put his arm around me and pulled me to lean on him. We finished watching that episode and Joe went to the bathroom and changed before coming and sitting, or laying, back down with me.
