Chapter 34
James
Driving to Ducky's house takes about an hour and a half, and it's off an old highway. She lives just outside a quaint little village with a ranch style house that has white shingles, and a blue door. It's a two story house, and has a garage off to the side. The first thing I notice is the porch swing. I have a feeling that Nadia had a hand in that purchase since the cushions are pink, and it feels like something she would do. Ducky comes out of the front door and waves for us to come in. Three dogs come bounding out and towards the car. A large collie, a border collie, and what looks to be a miniature German shepherd with corgi in it.
"My babies!" Nadia says excitedly, still holding Melody who is clearly not pleased right now.
"Just wait for me to open the door, baby doll" I tell her with an air of authority. She looks a little contrite and nods. I get out and the dogs are barking and I glare down at them using my alpha aura. The dogs calm down and sit, so I go to Nadia's door and open it up. She gets out and smiles at me before going to each dog.
"Hello my sweeties" she coos to them, and they wag their tails and run at her. Melody jumps out of Nadia's arms and runs to the house, squeezing in the open door. "Daisy, come give mommy kisses" she says to the miniature german shepherd.
"What kind of dog is she?" I ask her, unable to put it together, since the other two are clearly pure breds.
"She's my little bit of everything" she giggles. "Isn't she adorable!" she coos again giving Daisy kisses on her nose.
"Who are these two?" I ask, looking pointedly at the other two vying for her attention.
"That's Billy, and Holly. Billy is the collie" she explains. "They're all fixed, so no puppies for these three."
"Hello you two" I bend down and pet them both when Daisy jumps up on me. She's certainly excitable.
"Aww, she likes you" my little mate says. "You'll be seeing her a lot for the next week. She's my shadow."
"Oh, so she's competition" I joke, and Nadia giggles. She gives all the dogs their due attention before Micheline, or Ducky as she now prefers, calls us into the house. I run around to grab our bags and we head inside with the dogs. I notice Melody has taken a spot in the window looking out while other cats run around the house and as well come in and out of an open window.
"This is a full house as you'll see" she smirks as we stop in the middle of the room. "My bedroom is upstairs" she goes to take her bags, but I stop her.
"Lead the way" I gesture to the stairs. Nadia starts slowly going up the steps and she stops at one of the doors on the right, facing the front of the house. I walk in and it's a large room, and it's full of books and has a little queen size bed. The walls are a light pink with a shelf that goes all around the room filled with Funko pops of superheroes. She flushed when she saw me checking them out. She has a large closet that's mainly empty save a few dresses, including a pink sparkly prom dress. She also has a dresser that looks like she grew up with it. There's photos on a corkboard of her with Jacob and Jenny when they were younger, and that brings a smile to my face. A younger version of Nadia had ringlets in her hair, and so adorable.
"I hope our pups look like you when you have them" I say to her softly, not wanting her mom to overhear.
"Are you in a hurry?" she teases as she starts putting our clothes away in the dresser and closet.
"Yes, for purely selfish reasons" I grin and she blushes again. "Our house is going to be much bigger than this" I tell her softly.
"Will my mom be allowed to move with us?" she hesitates before asking.
"I would never keep you from your family" I smiled at her. "She'll just have to get cool with a whole lot really quickly" I chuckle.
"I just want her to be close by when we have... pups" she says with a soft smile on her face, that reaches her eyes.
"I'll build her a house close to ours" I promise, and start texting the request to Steve to update with the architect. I specify I want a house exactly like this, describing it to him, adding in wanting at least five bedrooms because the pups will likely want to spend the night. A thought occurs to me, I must be going crazy. I'm already talking about babies, when we haven't even sealed our mate bond. Fang is going crazy in my head, he wants me to do it now. I can't though. Not in her mothers house. That would be wrong. My cock in my pants almost lets out a whimper.
I know buddy, I know.
Nadia
Mom made perogies, sausage with sour kraut, and greek salad for supper and I am over the moon. She gave James and I time to get unpacked while the front door stayed open, letting in a breeze. Melody is unbothered by the open windows and doors. She's more of an indoor cat. Daisy has made it her mission to follow me everywhere, and had come into my bedroom and whined until she was given a little extra attention. She's a big suck up, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
When we came downstairs and supper was ready, James pulled out my chair and then mom's before taking a seat himself. Daisy's head went to my lap automatically and Melody came into the room to see if there was anything she would like to eat. She knows at mom's house she's not allowed on the table, so my shoulders had to suffice.
"This is amazing" James praised my mothers cooking. "Thank you so much," he adds with gratefulness evident on his face.
"It's Nadia's favorite of mine" mom says with a bit of a wave. She made twice the amount she normally does, and James is eating enough for two. I'm a little jealous of his ability to eat so much and still stay fit. I've always been overweight, and I've tried dieting and exercise but nothing worked. So I just learned to accept myself the way I am. I eat until I'm satisfied, and that's enough for me.
"I also picked up your favorite from the bakery. I ordered it yesterday when we found out you were coming home today," mom gets up and takes a large box from the counter and places it on the table with all of the empty dishes. I squeal excitedly and James looks at me.
"Chocolate cake and peanut butter icing with strawberry jam, and chocolate covered strawberries on top?" I ask hopefully.
"That's exactly right," mom grins. "I'll give you both an extra large sliced piece." She promises.
"I've never had this before" James says, licking his lips and I just want to kiss him.
"You'll love it" I assure him.
"Its a family favorite," mom says. "I would have made it, but it likely would have come with fur" she jokes. I get up and clear the dishes, even though they argue I shouldn't be, and I grab the last tiny bite of sausage and give it to Daisy who seems appeased. Mom already has the dessert plates on the table and sure enough, she gave us both large portions and herself a regular sized one.
"Jenny and Jacob are going to be so mad they missed this" I take a picture and send it to our group chat.
"That's true, they do like it too," mom chuckles. "What are you two up to for the rest of the night?" she asks as James takes his first bite and he moans, which makes me have to shimmy my legs together at the sound. It was almost pornographic.
"That's amazing. I never would have thought of this" James proclaims, taking one of the strawberries off the top and putting it in his mouth.
"We have to eat it within the next day or two, or else the strawberries will go bad" mom tells him.
"Oh that's terrible" I tease. "I got this mom, I'll just eat it tonight" I joke.
"I've seen you do that" she chuckles and I flush.
"To be honest, it's a good cake" I shrug in my own defense.
"What kind of dessert do you like, James?" mom asks him.
"Well this just made the top of the list, but usually just an apple, pecan, or pumpkin pie" he grins. "Mom liked to bake on her downtime when we were kids. Steve, my brother, and I would spend a lot of time with our dad after Steve was ten years old, so mom took up baking when we were with our dad," James tells us, and I smile at him hoping he will keep talking.
"Your poor mom must have been lonely without you boys under foot" mom comments.
"She had a lot of her own duties in the company so she was busy too. Meals were always together as a family. Even if we were in different cities, we did it over video. No meals were missed" James has a far-off look in his eyes. "Steve and I agreed that once one of us finds someone special enough, we are going to start doing it again" he looks at me and grins. "I'm thinking Steve is going to have to start joining us, baby doll" he winks.
"Does he even have time right now?" I laugh.
"Probably not, but it's about making an effort" he leans in and kisses my forehead.
"I will say this, I think you found a good one this time around" mom whispers to me, and I can't help but whole heartedly agree.
"I hope I am worthy of her," James says with a smile, and I can tell he's being honest.
"Isn't that supposed to be the other way around?" I ask coyly.
"No, he said it perfectly. We will see how this week goes, but so far, he's got my vote" mom grins.
We finish eating our dessert and James insists on doing the dishes which gives me a few minutes to talk to my mom. We don't say much, but I keep eyeballing James in his jeans. He doesn't wear them often, but man does he fill them out beautifully. Mom only got up once to put the cake back in the fridge. I mentally start calculating exactly what I want to do once he's done doing dishes. I have to keep it PG with mom around, even though her bedroom is on the main floor.
