Chapter 35
Nadia
After supper, I need a rest. I'm still recuperating, and need a little downtime. I've gone from being almost stagnant to being very active today and it's taken a lot out of me. I still have a lot of dirty thoughts about James, but I know I have to wait. I don't want to, but I can't stand the chance that mom hears us. However I have half a mind to take him in the woods and try to seduce him there. It would be almost ironic in a way. I grab the book that James bought for me from upstairs and go outside to sit on the swing I had bought when I had my first job and laid back with Daisy on my legs. Holly and Billy are walking around, and sniffing at James' car curiously. I have a feeling they'll be bringing the ball soon to have it thrown. It's Daisy's favorite game, but they like to join in. Right now Daisy is happily getting all the attention that she's missed out in the last few months since I haven't made it home. I wish I could bring her back with me, but honestly, it wouldn't be fair. There's no room to run and roam like she likes to. I have to wait until I get a house one day. She's only five, but I raised her from when she was only four weeks old, and the hardest decision I've had to make so far was leaving her with my mom while I moved to the city nine months ago.
"Oh, I see how it is. I leave you for five minutes and another canine has you wrapped around their paw" James teases as he comes outside with two cups of tea.
"I'll have you know, she had me first" I giggle. It's true. She had my heart the moment I rescued her. Sometimes I think she actually rescued me instead. "Miss Daisy has had my heart the moment we met" I explain.
"You must have a thing for canines" James jokes and sets down the two porcelain tea cups.
"Indeed I do" I give a light laugh. I see him kick the ball and suddenly Daisy launches herself off of me and grabs it and jumps on James's legs, demanding he throw it. He gives me a look and I shrug. "You have to throw it, it's the rules" I smile. He throws the ball far, and suddenly all three dogs bolt after it. Billy and Holly are fast, but Daisy is faster. She growls at them when they get to her, and she comes back with the pink ball in her mouth and her head held up proudly.
"She's cute" James lifts my legs and sits down, then puts my legs across his lap.
"You're not done" I tell him and he looks at me confused before all three dogs are all standing in front of him and Daisy drops the ball on my legs. He throws the ball again and they chase after it. "It's their favorite game," I explained simply. Adaline, one of my other cats that enjoys the indoors and outdoors comes over and lays on my stomach while James continues to play with the dogs, and I get lost back into the pages of my book.
"What would you like to do tomorrow?" James asks after a few minutes. I look up and grin slyly at him.
"I'd like to say a walk in the woods" I wink.
"How much land does your mom have?" he asks.
"About fifty acres. It's a good sized lot" I shrug. "I have a few private spots out in the woods you might like" my imagination is running wild with possibilities of what we can do.
"Is that safe? You just got out of the hospital" he says, and I frown. He's not on the same page, but he sure as heck will be.
"I'm fine for a walk. We will bring a blanket, some food and drinks. It'll be nice" I practically purr the word nice while running a hand up and down his bicep. Realization seems to hit him, and I can feel him getting hard against the calf of my legs. He smirks and licks his lips, a twinkle in his eyes. "We also have a side by side so we can drive out into the woods" I add softly.
"Sounds perfect," he grins. "But we are packing a full meal, and some blankets. And only if it's nice out, I don't want you getting sick."
"Deal" I nod, and go back to my book but the pages are swimming on the paper. I want this in real life, I want the whole thing. This whimsical romance I have with James is starting to fulfil the need for romance in my life. But I want more. I also have the strangest urge to crawl into his lap and bite his shoulder, close to his collar bone to make him officially mine. That's how they do it in the books, and I want to do that too. It's deep inside me, like an animalistic need. I want the world to know he's my mate. I imagine that need is there for him too. He's marked me a few times temporarily, but I want the full mating mark. I know I'm being selfish, but I need it. He smells fantastic, as always, and it has my mouth watering at the idea that he's forever mine.
James
I continue throwing the ball for the dogs, and in between I massage my mates legs. She's deep in thought and not even reading anymore. Her book is open, but she keeps gazing at me. I can only imagine the thoughts she has going through her mind. The mate bond has all but snapped into place. Fang is salivating at consummating the mate bond, and marking her for life, not to mention knotting inside of her. I've never knotted inside a woman, I used condoms in the past, and Fang would not allow the knot. But now I know it's exactly what he wants this time around. I'm hoping we can partially complete our union tomorrow in the woods. That seemed to be her idea with the way she was looking at me and pawing at my arm. I am going to kindly ask that we leave the dogs behind. What I plan to do to her, Daisy may be offended by me marking her mother. It's a clear hierarchy in the small pack here, and Daisy is the wild card. Billy seems to be the oldest, and Holly is obviously the youngest. But Daisy is her own woman.
It's a relaxing spot they have here, with no real neighbour in sight. Plenty of land to roam, and it's clear all of the pets take full advantage. Fang wants to run free like they do, but we can't until we are in private. Even then, I'm not sure that Nick would approve of me doing so. It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission in this case.
"How is the book, babydoll?" I ask Nadia, when it's clear she's still not reading.
"I'm not sure, I keep getting lost in my own thoughts" she admits with a flush on her cheeks. I grin, and lick my lips.
"And what would we be thinking about?" I ask in almost a whisper, my voice husky. She shimmies her legs together, and my nostrils flare. She's turned on by whatever thoughts she has in her head.
"Some time alone tomorrow" she says in a small voice.
"I'm looking forward to that too, but we have to be careful" I say in a hushed whisper. I can hear Ducky coming through the house into our direction. Adaline is still curled up in a ball on Nadia's stomach as though this is her rightful spot. Melody is watching from the window, but she's more interested in watching the birds.
"I made some more tea" Ducky comes out and sees our nearly full cups. She nods and takes a seat on the chair nearby. "Now I have a hair appointment tomorrow, so I won't be gone long. What are you kids planning on doing?" she asks.
"We are taking the side by side and going up to one of my favorite spots in the woods behind the house" Nadia turns and answers her mother. "I hope you don't mind," she adds quickly.
"As long as you don't exert yourself. You gave us quite a scare, and you've done too much already today. I can tell by the look on your face, you must be exhausted" Ducky says.
"Just a little" Nadia says in a small voice. "But there's barely any walking included, so I think we will be fine."
"James, you better take care of her" Ducky turns her sharp eyes to me and I nod.
"You have my word" I promise. Although silently I think I may leave a small mark on her, if I have my way. The way Nadia is acting, it may be more than a small mark, and I CANT wait. I want her to always smell like me and our bond.
"When are Jacob, Jenny and Rieta coming?" Ducky asked.
"Saturday, we are going tubing" Nadia answers.
"You better put some waterproof bandages on that bullet wound" she says back quickly. "And don't exert yourself."
"We wont be too long, mom" Nadia says with a bit of a sigh. "Don't forget I have to get my strength back up. We re-open next week"
"With additional staffing, you won't be on the floor long" I quip and Nadia looks at me in surprise. "Some of my family are coming to work for you three" I explained. She seems to immediately understand. They are all some of the warriors from my pack, either still working, or retired. They have a love of books which is why I suggested them to apply, and they jumped at the opportunity. I also told them that they are to protect the three owners with their lives. That order seemed to not be a surprise.
"So James, do you want children?" Ducky asks me pointedly.
"I want as many as Nadia can handle, and then maybe just one more" I grin. "I never considered kids much in the past, but with her I want as many as possible, and I hope they all look like her" I answer honestly.
"That's a good answer" Ducky chuckles.
"I'm building houses for me and my family to move into. I asked for one more house, identical to this one to be added so you have somewhere close to live after we get married" I give my best smile.
"Getting a bit ahead of yourself, aren't you?" she chuckles.
"I only see my future in Nadia's eyes, and I feel she is my other half" I say simply. "The decision is easy when it comes to her" I shrug.
"Are you okay with that, Nadia?" Her mom asks.
"I'm very okay with it. I've never felt this way before" she smiles broadly. "It's like fate" she says.
"And I have the means to take care of her, don't worry" I promise.
"I already know that much, but it can't be just financially. You need to make her your priority no matter what" she gives a bit of sass.
"She's already my priority, I assure you" I swear. "My brother may want to kick my butt since I'm making him do so much on his own these last two months. But it's worth it" I smile, and I truly mean it. Steve will be fine, and when he finds his mate, we will share more in the responsibilities.
