"What's happened?" I demand as soon as the video call links with Steve and Sam back at the pack house.
"Those two packs started a war, and we are right in the middle. We've got to get everyone out of here" Steve says, looking me in the eyes. "It's not safe here anymore," he says softly.
"We need one of you here, and one of you there to take in everyone. We've had a few casualties" Sam speaks up, seeming a little worried about bringing this up.
"Who?" I ask, instantly feeling the loss deep in my soul.
"Some of the older wolves out on the edge of the woods. I'll send you names as soon as we hang up" Steve offers. "It looks like they were sleeping in bed together when the fire started and they died holding one another" Steve paints a sad picture for me. "It was Sandra and her mate Stephen."
"Bring everyone on the edge of the forest to the pack house and get them to pack everything they have. They'll be the first to be moved. We have enough houses rented for now that we can accommodate them" I give the order. "I'll call the other two Alpha's and remind them that my land is off limits until the pack is moved" I add with a bite in my tone. I am furious at what's going on, and I've barely been gone a week. "Eliminate pack runs except for the soldiers on the borders to minimize casualties and get as many as you can to the pack house or on the plane to here. Use the private jet so it's not searched as closely at customs, and ship the rest of their things, go with overnight delivery and put it on my account" I sigh heavily. "What started the war?" I finally ask.
"They both got wind we are moving and they want the land" Sam explains quickly.
"Damn" I grumble.
"I'm sorry if we ruined your date" Steve looks honestly apologetic.
"No, it's fine. This is important. She was very understanding" I finally gave a small smile. "She's going to make a very good Luna" I add softly.
"We are having a burial for Sandra and Steve tonight, and we will stop all pack runs for now. Are there any other orders for now Alpha?" Sam asked.
"No, I'll have to handle it from this end. Can you tell them when they are in public to only refer to me as James or Mr. Grant for now?" I ask him.
"That's going to be a little odd for them, but I'll give the order" Steve says quickly. "Any signs of the rogues?"
"Not yet, but I've left my scent everywhere. They know I'm here" I say with a bit of a grin. "I have half a mind to go to the bar and talk to them tomorrow."
"Wait for me to be back, you might need backup" Steve says worriedly.
"I'll think about it" I tell him, I want to get this over with as soon as possible. They either join the pack, or leave. There is no other way about it. It's no longer rogue lands, its pack lands now. And I know the Lycan king won't hold it against me if I do something about it too. I'm also curious to know if it's them that has been defacing my mates property.
"Think about it a lot," Steve tells me and I shrug. "What's the plan for the rest of the night besides stalking your mate?" he asks.
"Well, I have to hire the car service to go pick up anyone you send my way and get them situated into their new temporary homes for now. But I have a new book to read as well" I say proudly.
"Did she like the flowers?" Steve asks.
"He got her flowers?" Sam asks, a little bit surprised.
"She loved them I think" my mind goes back to the shared kiss, and then my eyes drift to the book with the pink carnation sticking out of it.
"Look at you go" Sam coo's.
"She likes flowers" I feel my cheeks flush slightly.
"I can't wait to meet her," Sam grins. "My mate Maria gave me news this morning, she's pregnant. I'd like to get her out of here as soon as possible as well."
"All the more reason. Congratulations!" I say loudly. "Please send her today," I tell him.
"I'll make sure she's on one of the flights this week. I'd rather we take care of the families that are without a house first" Sam says, looking a little worried.
"Good, I agree" I nod. "Now if you two don't mind, I need to call Alpha John and Alpha Lucian to back off our lands" I tell them.
"I'll text you with the flight times and who all is coming every day. We are going to be busy" Steve warns me. I nod before signing off. I take just a moment to look at Nadia on the security feed and she's already got the flowers proudly on her table and she's curled up in a comfortable looking chair with her book in a pair of pajama shorts and old t-shirt. She looks beautiful. I can't wait to experience this in person. I grab the book she gave me and look at the back and smirk. It's a stalker romance. Little does she know she's being stalked already.
