Chapter 44
James
The make out session barely covered my need for Nadia. As I walked out of Bookflowers and Potions, I am still hard as a rock, and it's not even remotely funny. I underestimated a Rutt and what it entails. I'm not proud of it, but I think I might have to relieve myself in the bathroom when I get back to the office to take the edge off.
I walked down the small town streets that seem to be getting busier, and I can see my pack members out either looking around, or establishing their own businesses in store front windows that were previously empty. I'm proud of what we are bringing to this town, and what we have achieved so far. In my absence, Steve and Sam have really helped bring us together in the community. I know it was a fast paced move, and some will still mourn for the old pack grounds, but this change is for the best. Now I just need to get my head out of my ass and start going to all the meetings and helping more too. I did ensure that it was a well known fact that I am done by six in the evening. I'll do the occasional nighttime meeting, especially with the Lycan king if needed, but my preference is to make sure there is a work life balance.
One thing that irks me, and has been on my mind, is the rogues. Some of my best warriors are out looking for them still, but to no avail. I know the police and the sheriff have been looking as well. The hourly patrols they are doing help ease my anxiety about Nadia and the store, but it's just not enough. I want them brought forward for their crimes to the Lycan king if we can get to them before the police do. Then again, I want to have them killed and buried so deep underground there's no way anyone will find them.
Once I reached the office, I headed to the bathroom first. I tried to masturbate, but it still wouldn't go down. It also felt like a waste if it wasn't inside Nadia. So I zipped up my pants and washed my hands and headed to my desk where I found both Steve and Sam at their own desks working away already.
"How is it going, Alpha?" Sam asked me with a knowing smirk.
"I feel like taking Nadia away for a few weeks and not letting her out of the bedroom until I'm satisfied" I admit as I sit down. "Was it this way for you?" I ask him.
"Yes sir it was. One of the hardest things I ever had to endure was trying to walk away to do my responsibilities. That's why I begged for the time off" Sam admitted. "She'll start to feel it too, once her wolf is fully there. She might be begging you to take time off too."
"It can't be that bad" Steve rolled his eyes.
"Wait until you find your mate. Then you'll understand" I tell him, a little irritated at my current situation.
"I'm in no hurry, there's plenty of she-wolves to spend time with," Steve shrugged, sitting back in his chair. "Besides, I work too much," he chuckles.
"Hound dog" Sam laughed, and rolled his eyes. "You'll regret it when you find them. You'll be wishing that you never spent time with any other woman in the world."
"I know I do" I say softly, but the two seem to understand that I'm repenting for ages old sins against my mate. She may have not been in the picture, but she was on my mind.
"How is business going at the store?" Steve asks.
"Looks pretty good, Jeremy is taking to it pretty quick and so is Kate. The pack has been in and out a lot today by the looks of things. They have their regulars, but I can tell some of the pack are going to start being regulars as well. They were still lined up out the door when I left" I smile proudly.
"Let's hope business keeps up like this all week" Steve was crunching numbers. "It's still going to take a few weeks to make up for the loss of business and merchandise. Being closed for a month must have really hurt them" he sighed.
"I'll send out another allowance. We have the money for it, right?" I ask, not having checked the bank accounts in a long time.
"Of course, we are still thriving with the companies we have at least. The pack housing will be completed within a month, so we will have less expenses soon. I've made sure that electricity and water is set up, as well as fencing on the pack borders around the pack house. We have enough land that it will take them some time to complete it. That way we have better eyes on what's going on. Sam also made a deal with the phone and internet company to make sure that each house is taken care of so that's one less thing to worry about. We've been doing fine in your absence," Steve explains after a beat. "So to answer your questions before they come, yes, we are doing fine. The only thing is we have had to unexpectedly turn down some contracts because we are still looking for the rogues that attacked your mate and the store. We need more resources."
"You mean we need more people" I say, following him easily.
"Yes, our office where we have our old pack lands is doing very well, and our new office here is already working. We will probably take a few months to get into the groove of things here, but I'm confident we will be expanding our business. Alpha Tony and Alpha Nick have already taken advantage of our services, and even turned down the initial discount we offered them because of the treaty we signed. They said we are giving them enough business right now, they are pleased with the new partnership" Steve gives an easy smile and sits back.
"So why am I here?" I ask after a moment. "You have everything under control" I say looking between the two men.
"You're still the Alpha, and you need to start making some decisions" Steve shrugged. "It's also a perk to know that I'm bugging you by having you here" he chuckles.

Kate took to the cash register so easily and I'm really impressed with her and Jeremy. Jeremy has it down pat how to find the books with ease, and when to restock. Jacob even had time to go do some paper work because we definitely need to make some new orders for more books after today. We sold ten times more products than usual. I have a feeling it's going to continue to be like this. Jenny promised to stay until closing, and Jeremy advised he would be staying until closing as well, just to be sure of how that process looks. Kate had to leave at five to pick up her kids from daycare and go home, but she did hint that she would be staying until closing tomorrow.
At six pm on the dot Jacob took over the cash register and sent me on my way. I grabbed an iced tea before heading upstairs to start cooking supper. I wanted to make something special since James has been working hard all day. I've been feeling a little over heated, so once I got upstairs, I took a cool shower before putting on a pair of sleep shorts and a tank top. I put my hair into a messy bun and came back downstairs to a disgruntled Melody who wanted attention. I picked her up and kissed her three times on the head and gave her some treats before putting her down and putting my attention on making supper.
I wish I had time to make something that James would be excited about, but cooking takes time, and I used too much of my precious time taking a quick shower. We had red meat for lunch, so I went with a tuna pasta salad, made with dill pickles, onions, and celery. I was tempted to add carrots as well, but as it is, I'm not sure that James will like this. I wasn't sure if he expected dessert, but I figured the fruit would be sufficient. Once everything was put together, I put it in the fridge, since it's best served cold, and left the tuna juice in a bowl on the table for Melody to have as another treat for being such a good girl.
I take the time to clean up a bit before grabbing my tablet to read books off of my Kindle. I didn't dare buy myself a new book today, but I might order one for my trophy shelf after I'm done with this book. It's a dark werewolf romance, and I'm really starting to get into it when James gets home.
"I'm home" James says the obvious when he walks in and I jump up and put my tablet down.
"Welcome home baby" I run to him and he opens his arms to me. He wraps me in a hug, and his lips seek out mine. I'm quick to press my lips to his, and it's like magic. I forget about everything else. There's just him, and that's it. Every sensation is because of him, and suddenly it feels like we are wearing too much clothes and I want to rip his shirt off. I reach for his buttons and he chuckles in our kiss. "It's so hot in here" I tell him and he looks surprised. "Get out of these clothes, please" I say to him, still trying to undress him.
"Hold on, let me turn up the air conditioning, and then I'll take care of you" he says, as he nips at my neck. I whimper, and wrap one leg around his waist. I can't explain it, I just need him badly. The store is still open, and I did set up the condition that we only have sex when the store is closed, but I can't help myself. I want him anywhere and everywhere. He picks me up and I wrap both legs around him and my arms around his neck while he turns up the air conditioner. We are a tangle of lips, tongues and limbs. We make it as far as the couch, and he slowly sets me down on the cushion. My fingers nimbly go to his shirt again, and once I'm done, I go for his jeans. He kicks off his jeans and shoes before he grins.
"Did you miss me?" he finally asks.
"Yes, please... I made supper, it's just cooling. How about we do something else?" I practically purr. Um excuse me? Who is this woman? I don't remember ever craving someone like this in my entire life, and no one else will do besides him. He looks at me for a moment, and stops. He checks my forehead, but only feels sweat.
"Let me close the blinds and lock the doors. We will have supper because you are going to need your energy," James says softly. I whimper but nod in understanding. "Don't get me wrong, I want you in the worst way. But I need to take care of you still" he gives my forehead a kiss.
"Can we eat naked?" I ask him hopefully.
"Well, it's less to fight with once we are done. What's for supper?" he asks.
"Tuna pasta salad," I told him. He hums as he locks the front door and goes to each window and closes all the blinds.
"Did you make an appetizer?" he asks. I shake my head. "Good, you are about to be my appetizer" he grins and I shimmy my legs together in anticipation.
