Nadia

We don't leave our bedroom the rest of the day, the next day and today so far, we've barely left except to eat. I started to hear faint whispering last night, but I didn't mention it to James. I figured I was going crazy. Jenny has given up on coming upstairs after catching us half naked yesterday. I think we traumatized her for good. She did give some sass that we weren't resting like we were supposed to be, but honestly. This is the only thing that makes me feel better. I've secretly been taking James' dirty shirts and putting them under the pillows in bed. I don't know why I'm doing it. It's a compulsion that's beyond me.
We are laying in bed after yet another vigorous love making session, when the whisper becomes louder.
"Nadia!" a woman's voice says. I jump out of bed and look around, and see that James is fast asleep.
"Who's there?" I ask, looking around feeling a little frightened.
"It's me, Evangeline, your wolf" the voice comes back. "You may call me Eve," she says. "You can speak to me with your mind."
"How do I do that?" I whisper, not wanting to wake up James.
"Just think the words, and I'll hear them" she tells me and I go into the bathroom and yelp when I see a white wolf standing behind me in the mirror. "Don't worry, it's just me" she soothes.
"You're so pretty" I think and I see her swish her tail. She's not petite, but she's not overly large either. She has a snow white coat, in stark contrast to Fang.
"So are you, Nadia. It's nice to finally be able to speak to you. I've been waiting a long time. You were destined to be with James, so I've been waiting in the afterlife to come to you," Eve says. "I was chosen by the moon goddess herself to be your wolf. We need to be strong as there is much planned for your pack."
"What kind of plans?" I think, still trying to get used to this way of speaking.
"Mainly good things, but we are going to get along just fine. I can't wait to meet my mate Fang! I've seen his aura, he's so strong," Eve coos.
"Can James see you and your aura?" I ask curiously.
"Our aura, yes, we are a strong omega compared to most. You'll see your pack will bow to you more now than they did before. I'm so excited to be speaking with you" she says, and I see her prance behind me.
"What's an omega?" I ask, dying for answers.
"The omega to an Alpha is the heart of the pack, and has special abilities. For us, I don't know what they are yet, but the moon goddess works in mysterious ways," she explains.
"Why do I feel like I'm overheating all the time?"
"When I started coming to you, you went into a heat. A heat is basically the same as James' rutt. You need one another until you become pregnant with a pup or two... or three"
"Am I going to have a litter?" I ask, deadpanning. I feel the anxiety in me twisting.
"No more than three at a time, I promise" Eve chuckles in my head. I sigh and sit on the side of the tub, still looking at the mirror transfixed. "And we are pregnant now. You'll see that on a test in a few weeks time, so the heat should be over soon."
"How is that possible?! I have PCOS, it's rare for people like me" I gasp and touch my lower abdomen.
"Your body is changing, you still have it, but it's just a little easier now. The moon goddess has truly blessed us" she prances in a circle. "Now this part is going to hurt temporarily, but soon it won't hurt at all." That's all the warning she gives me before I feel my entire body start to overheat, and I hear bones breaking. I cry out in pain as I watch in the mirror to see my body changing. White fur spurts out of my skin, and what little I'm wearing tears off of my body as I grow just slightly. My feet even shift, until I'm looking at a werewolf in the mirror. I go to say something but the pain comes again, and I'm whimpering as I hit the floor and bones break again. I writhing on the floor, almost convulsing, and James comes running in.
"Baby?" he asks, seeing me mid change, and he gets down on the floor with me. "It's okay, it's your first shift... You'll be okay" he assures me and starts kissing my forehead. It feels like I've taken a step back from my eyes, and I'm looking through someone else's. I go to say something, but only a bark comes out. I hear the final bone crack and the pain is over. "You did so good baby" James coos to me. "You're so beautiful" he tells me. I gently get to my feet, and find myself flailing on four paws and it takes a moment. I whimper and there's a bang on the door downstairs.
"Nadia!" Jacob says from downstairs and I whimper. "Are you okay?" I hear him charging up the stairs. I feel warmth again, and bones start breaking as I take my human form again, and I yelp out in pain. James looks panicked, and grabs a towel throwing it over me. "Nadia!" Jacob comes into the bathroom to see James only in his boxers and me naked on the floor only covered by a towel.
"I'm sorry" is the only thing I can get out.
"What happened, are you hurt?" he demands, looking at James for answers.
"She twisted her ankle getting out of the shower" James lies quickly, unable to come up with anything else that would be believable.
"Is that the truth?" Jacob demands.
"Yes... I fell" I lie, a flush on my cheeks.

James

"Alright, get up. You're going to the doctor, enough of this nonsense" Jacob says with a growl. "Jenny said you had a fever, and now you're falling? I know you're clumsy, but I've never heard you scream like that."
"There's a doctor about to open his practice here in town, I'll take her there" I tell him. I do want her checked out, but for other reasons. It's the pack doctor, but he practices human medicine too. This is too soon for her to shift for the first time. I would have coached her through it. I wanted to be there when it happened.
"I'm coming with you, it's not that I don't trust you. But that was almost inhuman" Jacob crosses his arms stubbornly. He has his jaw set, and he looks like he's willing to fight me to the grave. Does he think I hurt her? I would never hurt her. I'd sooner die than ever even let her break a nail on my accord.
"I need to get dressed" Nadia finally finds her voice.
"Fine, but I'll be right downstairs. I have to go down and tell Jenny that you look fine, you were just being clumsy again" Jacob huffs and storms away, like he's angry. I wait until he's gone from the stairs and I pull Nadia onto my lap.
"Baby, are you okay? This is too soon for you to shift" I say in a hushed voice. She's trembling under my hands.
"Her name is Evangeline, and she is beautiful," Nadia says softly.
"She's just the other half of you, and you are just as beautiful" I tell her. "We need to go to the pack doctor, you shifted too soon" I say as I helped her up, but she's still a bit shaky. Pure white wolves are rare, and there's legends surrounding them. I have to get the pack library unpacked to see what exactly the ancient texts say.
"Is that where you're taking me?" she asks softly as I help her into the bedroom.
"Yes" I admit quickly. I make sure she's seated and I run into the closet to grab her something to wear. I found long pajama bottoms, and a t-shirt that matches it. It's her coffee addict pajamas. I help her get dressed before I put on a pair of sweats. I couldn't find my t-shirt from earlier, so I put on a clean one instead. I slip on my sneakers and see Nadia's put on her sandals. She's a bit pale, but I assume she's still in shock. I pick her up easily and carry her down the stairs. Jacob is waiting in the living room with his arms crossed as though I'm the source of all evil. He opens the door and I rush down the stairs.
"My car is over here" Jacob points to the end of the alley. He unlocks the car and I run to the backseat and get in the car with Nadia.
"Jacob, I'm fine. He didn't hurt me" she finally says in frustration.
"Yeah, well I didn't see any water either" Jacob says, and I know I'm caught in my lie. I decide not to say anything else because he's smart enough to see past anything I say.
"I was about to get in to bring the fever down. James was in a dead sleep, you turd monkey" Nadia growls and I have to hold her hand. Her growl sounded a lot like her wolf, and I needed to calm her down. She might shift again in the back seat if she doesn't control her emotions and I would have A LOT to answer if he finds out.
"Where's the doctor?" Jacob ignores her.
"At his practice getting set up. It's just at the edge of town. Go right at the end, and its the last building on the right side" I explain. Jacob doesn't say anything, but rushes to the clinic. I texted the doctor to tell him to open the front door if there's a knock. My anxiety is spiking high, and I don't know what to do or say.
"I'm fine, it was a small fall. I barely feel it anymore" Nadia says as Jacob parks in front of the clinic. I get out and help Nadia stand then pick her up again, and Jacob closes the back door. We rush in and the pack doctor looks surprised and he does something I asked him not to. He shows his neck in response to me with Nadia.
"We need help," Jacob says, missing the exchange.
"Of course, please bring her in" the pack doctor, Anthony says, and he leads us to one of the rooms. I set her down on the bed and he looks at Jacob, but he sets his jaw stubbornly again.
"Not leaving," he says and Nadia rolls her eyes.
"You're stubborn," she says to him.
"Not stubborn enough, that scream we could hear clear as day downstairs. Either tell me the truth, or I'm staying" Jacob glares daggers at me. Okay, fair point. I did change her, I just didn't think she would change so soon. I feel guilty for resting when I should have been awake.
