Abhay's POV
"Baby you okay?" I tapped the bathroom door. "You've been in there for a while."
"I'm okay." She said softly.
"Want me to help with anything?" I asked.
"No, it's okay. I'll be out in a few mins." She said.
"Okay, I'll get supper ready." I said and headed to the kitchen.
After a few mins I heard the bathroom door unlock and she emerged, looking beautiful as ever.
"Everything alright?"
She nodded absentmindedly. I was curious but decided to let it go.
We were in silence for a while. I wondered what was going through her mind.
Tina's POV
How could I not have known before this?
I thought back, it started with the cruise. That was when the morning sickness started. And then the seafood restaurant. And then the expired milk.
It just so happened that Abhay got sick at the same time as me, which is why I never took notice of it.
And my changing body...I looked down at my breasts. Abhay was right...they are getting bigger.
How was I going to tell him?
Maybe it's a false positive... no need to rush and tell him...right?
I'll take another test tomorrow to confirm. Then I'll be sure. And I'll know exactly what to say to him.
There we go Tina, a woman with a plan.
I looked up and saw Abhay staring at my curiously.
"All good?" He raised an eyebrow. I nodded. "So, um, I have to go away for a few days, an academic conference. It's kind of short notice, but it's important that I go. "
He didn't meet my eyes when he spoke to me.
"Oh." Was all I said. I was hoping to deal with the pregnancy news soon and in person.
"When do you leave?"
"Tomorrow. " He said and shrugged his shoulders.
"Oh, that is short notice." I was hoping go get a second pregnancy test and confirm it all by then.
Maybe I can go now. I started getting up.
"Where are you going?"
"Um...I need to buy uh, uh, tampons." I blurted out the first thing I could think of. The irony is that I was going out to buy the opposite thing.
"Baby, you have a whole new pack in the cupboard." He laughed.
"Oh...right." I sat back down. "Well actually I was craving some ice cream." I stood back up but he halted me.
"Chocolate mint?" He asked.
"Yes, let's go get it. " I started towards the door but he grabbed my hand.
"Already bought you some on the way back home." He smirked and pulled me to his lap.
"Oh." I looked down.
"Oh?" He asked surprised.
"I mean Oh!" I changed my tone and smiled at him. Damn him for being so kind and considerate...and for knowing the exact type of ice cream I like.
"What's wrong?" He lifted up my chin.
"No nothing, I'm just...I just..." I couldn't think of what to say, "I just wish you weren't going. "
