I was woke up by my phone ringing. I glanced at my alarm clock, which clearly stated that it was a little after three. I groaned, reaching over for my phone. A number that I didn't recognize, but, who would recognize a number at three in the morning?
"Hello?" I answered the phone with a yawn.
"Sorry to call so early, but Clawdeen isn't coming to school today. So, I wanted to know if you wanted me to walk you to school in the morning?" It was Clawd. I nodded my head, realizing that he couldn't actually see me. Just like I couldn't see me. "So?"
"Yeah, that'd be great," I said, yawning once again.
"Good. I'll be there at seven or so. I'll let you get back to sleep. You need it," Clawd said softly. "Night," he said it right before he hung up the phone, giving me no change to reply. I set the phone back on my bedside table and rolled over in my bed. The bed was so much more comfortable than the coffin my father had bought me when I was seven. I'd only been sleeping in a bed for a little over two years. But, still, it was like sleeping on a cloud. The first dream that came to me that night happened to be about Clawd and myself.
