"Feeling better?" I asked Clawdeen as I slung my purse over my shoulder. She smiled and shook her head.

"I know that Clawd told you that I skipped because of my hair. He told me all about hanging out with you. I hope you thanked him for that. He said Deuce made it slightly awkward," Clawdeen laughed at the last part of her little speech as we walked through the maul.

"I did thank him, Clawdeen. Even if I didn't, he would've known I was grateful for everything he did for me today," she nodded and ran way ahead of me. I continued to walk at normal pace, knowing that she would return with a couple outfits in just a couple seconds.

"This. You have to try on this," she said, holding up a strapless pink dress with a black belt on the waist. "You have to try it on because I took it right from some other teenager. In all fairness, I saw it first," Clawdeen said. I shook my head and smiled, gently taking the dress from her. She threw a pair of tights at me before walking alongside me again.

"Anything else I have to try on before I walk into the dressing room?" I questioned. Clawdeen held up her index finger, a smile crossing her face as she darted away from me. She came back within seconds, holding a pair of black heels in her hand.

"Whoever you're going to the dance with, you might as well be eye level with them," she said, handing me the shoes. I walked into the dressing room and laid everything out on the little bench. I slipped on the dress and the tights. My hand froze right before I grabbed the shoes, Clawdeen's words ringing in my head. Clawd hadn't told her that I was going to the dance with him. She was seriously going to kill me when she found out. I shook my head to rid the thoughts and slipped my feet into the three inch heels. I glanced at the mirror in the dressing room, only seeing the dress, tights, and shoes. Sometimes, the whole non-reflection was a huge deal for me. It was kind of like a big punch in the face that all of my friends knew what they looked like and I'm always just hoping that I don't look like an ugly cow.

"You look amazing, ghoul!" Clawdeen exclaimed as I walked out of the dressing room. "Turn," I spun around and stopped when I was facing her again. "Earrings. You need earrings. Stay," I found rather ironic that a dog was telling me to stay. "These should work," she said, holding a pair of earrings to my ears. "Alright, go change so we can check out. I'm hungry, so hurry up."

"Ok. Give me a minute," I walked back into the dressing room and changed back into my normal clothes. I slipped my boots back on and looked up at the mirror. For a split second, I thought for sure that my reflection was there, staring back at me. Even it had been there, it wouldn't have mattered. Even I knew that a vampire didn't have the soul to produce a reflection.

"Are you ready? I'm starving. Does McDonalds work for you because...... Are you ok?" I hadn't heard a word she had said, I wasn't listening anymore. Or I couldn't listen, I wasn't sure. The only thing I knew was all my thoughts mushed together before everything went dark.
