I heard church bells ringing. I heard the choir singing. I saw my love walk down the aisle...

Jasmine, with tears brimming in her ears, watched as the love of her life walked down the aisle.

On her finger, he placed a ring. Oh, I saw them, holding hands. She was standing there with my man.

Klay eyes landed on his wife and never left. He didn't even notice the look on his best friend's face as she stood behind his wife, serving as the maid of honor.

I heard the promise, "Till death do us part." Each word was a pain in my heart.

After the pastor said some things, the vows were said. Each word felt like a brick being thrown at Jasmine's heart.

And now the wedding is over. The rice, rice has been thrown over their heads. For them, life has just begun. For me, it's ending.

Jasmine plastered a smile on her face as the newlyweds smiled lovingly at each other.

All I could do, all I could do was cry.

As they walked away, hand in hand, Jasmine couldn't hold back her tears. Through the tears, she smiled to mask the sadness. The realization that Klay would never love her that way settled in and she made a decision. From this day forward, she will hide her feelings for the sake of his happiness.

Two years later...

"The rumors of Klay and Carla Thompson's divorce have been confirmed. During an interview, Carla confirmed the rumors." Lopez spoke before the screen changed to a clip from Carla's interview.

"He's in love with someone else and I'm not happy. We both got into something too soon. There are no hard feelings. I wish him the best of luck in wherever life takes him. I truly hope that he finds happiness with the woman that he wants." She smiled genuinely.

The screen flipped back to Lopez, but Jasmine wasn't listening to anything he was saying since someone knocked on the door. Jasmine opened the door and to her surprise it was a breathless Klay.

"Hey." He mumbled.

"Hi." She responded, eyeing the roses in his hand. She raised an eyebrow at him.

He awkwardly handed them to her. "There for you."

"Thank you," She grabbed them. "Come in."

He stepped in the house with only two steps.

"Well, Mr. Long legs." She teased.

He laughed stiffly. "Yeah."

As she put the flowers in a vase, she turned to him. "Okay, buddy. What's wrong?"

"Well, I'm sure you know I'm in love with someone else." He spoke.

"Oh really," she faked surprise. "You didn't tell me, so how would I know?"

He laughed. "You don't have to act like you didn't see something on TV."

"I didn't." She shrugged.

"It's still on your TV, baby." He smirked.

She tried to see in her living room from the kitchen but ended up tripping and almost falling on her butt.

"Woah," Klay caught her. "Clumsy."

She blushed. "Sorry."

"You're fine- I mean, it's okay." He stumbled over his words.

Jasmine looked up at Klay and sighed. "Why has it been awkward between us nowadays?"

Klay stepped towards her, decreasing the gap between them in size.

"I don't- I- Well." he blushed.

Jasmine stared at Klay, waiting for an answer.

He stopped trying to talk and leaned in towards her, connecting his lips with hers. Caught by surprise, it took Jasmine a minute to get used to the feel of Klay's lips on hers, but once she did, their lips competed for dominance until Klay pulled away with the smile that always melted Jasmine's heart. This was the moment Jasmine had always yearned for, but she couldn't even enjoy it.

"I love you." He said.

"I'm engaged."
