Short Series| Pt. 2
"Show me your scars."
•••
The bright lights in the club pulsed off the walls. Katelyn looked around at all the sweaty bodies dancing and almost couldn't believe she'd let her sister talk her into this. Katelyn was very uncomfortable until she had her fifth drink.Men seemed to flock around Katelyn, who wasn't even really herself. There was nothing inside of Katelyn's body. She felt numb and she loved every second of it. She smoked a line. Convinced by her sister that it wouldn't hurt her, Katelyn snorted an entire line of cocaine like a pro.
"Damn, ma. You gone be aight?" A man asked Katelyn.
She waved him off and continued to dance in her seat.
3 Weeks Later
"Katelyn, I'm trynna' help you, sis.""I'm grown, Trina. Lemme alone." Katelyn yelled as her head hovered over her third line today.
"Stephen been calling and calling. I don't know what the fuck to tell him anymore. I know you don't want him to see you like this." Trina scoffed at her sister.
"Listen, I don't give a fuck about Stephen," Katelyn spat. "He can go to hell for all I care."
"Whatever, Kat." Trina left the room.
2 Months Later
"Kate, baby. What's wrong with you?" Stephen eyes remained widened at his wife.
"I ain't yo' baby." Katelyn spat at Stephen.
Stephen didn't even say anything. He was appalled at the appearance of his once polished wife.
Her eyes were bloodshot, scars covered her skin, and she was visibly smaller.
"What are you doing to yourself?" Stephen asked.
He began to approach her, but she held out her hand to warn him to stop her.
Katelyn had got back into some deep shit from her past. She was dangerous now.
"Step back." She warned.
"Baby, I-" Stephen continued to pursue her.
Katelyn whipped out her gun, freezing Stephen in his footsteps. "Step back."
Stephen cocked his head to the side and sighed. "You doing that shit again?"
Katelyn bit her lip and looked down. "How you even find me?"
"I thought of all the places you'd go, this was my last option. I was hoping-" He chuckled. "Hell, even praying that you wouldn't be here doing this shit."
"You need to go."
"Not until you tell me what would drive you to do some shit like this. I thought I got you outta' this."
"Why? You'on what your home boys seeing me?"
"Right, 'cause they'll kill you." Katelyn informed him.
"Unless you do it first, huh?" He motioned toward the gun she still had pointed at him.
Stephen honestly did not know what to do. He hated it to, but he had to leave. That didn't mean that he was giving up on her though. He would never give up on her.
