Angelica silently stood against the thin wall that separated the living room from the hallway as she listened to her husband, Daystar Peterson, whisper to someone on the phone.
She didn't know who he was talking about nor what was being said, but none of that mattered. Her right mind told her he was talking to someone she wouldn't approve of about something that could possibly hurt her.
Angelica stood there listening with her eyes closed for the rest of the conversation. She never moved. Not even when she heard him coming. She prayed that he saw her standing there as he left the living room. He didn't.
