Logan Saylor Wilder is a friend of Bella's with a secret that nobody knows, not even Bella. She goes to Forks after Bella's douche vampire boyfriend leaves her in a zombie-like state to help cheer her up. And now she is flying to Italy to save said...
Logan was practically giddy, bouncing in place as she waited. Demetri was supposed to return today, and she couldn't wait to see him.
"Angelo mia, calm down. He'll be here soon." Marcus says with amusement clear in his voice. Marcus and Logan were together in the garden.
"I know. I'm just excited. He's been gone for weeks." Logan says.
"Young love." Marcus says fondly. "Your bond with Demetri has been brighter than ever. You seem really happy."
"I am. I never knew it could feel this way. Who knew I'd ever actually thank that twink for something. If it weren't for his suicidal tendencies, I would have never come to Volterra."
"Yes. A few good things came out of that mess."
"Yup. I got my dad and my mate. Although if I didn't have to deal with him ever again, I wouldn't complain."
"I don't think any of us would be. The Cullens have been a pain in our sides for years."
"Not surprising. They have a leader that can't lead, a mind reader that disregards all rules, a clairvoyant that relies way too much on her powers, and the rest of the coven just gets ignored. I'm surprised their coven hasn't fallen apart sooner."
"I have to get to the throne room. Demetri and the others will be returning in a few hours. Would you like to join?"
"Sure. Can I read that book you were telling me about while we wait for them?"
"Of course, angelo mia. It's on the side table in my chambers."
"I'll get it and meet you in the throne room. Thanks, dad." Logan says before speeding off.
Marcus stood frozen for a second before smiling. Logan called him dad. Marcus then chuckled and made his way to the throne room.
🔥🔥🔥
Logan grabs the leather-bound book from the side table in Marcus's chambers before going to the throne room. Marcus, Aro, and Caius are all there, waiting for the return of Demetri, Felix, Jane, and Alec, with Bella and the Cullens.
"Find the book?" Marcus asks
"Yes." Logan says before sitting on the arm of Marcus's throne. She flips through the book and scans the pages. "It's incredible how much detail is in here. Things I never really knew."
Marcus nods. "Elementals are rare. And hybrids? Even more so. You're the first we've seen."
Logan's eyes flicker with both pride and uncertainty. "The book talks about how elementals can manipulate natural forces...fire, water, wind, earth...but it also warns of the dangers when combined with other supernatural bloodlines."
Marcus nods, "Being both vampire and elemental makes you powerful, but also complicated. Some in the world wouldn't be ready for what you are."
"And others would try to use me to their advantage." She looks up, catching Marcus's eyes. "I want to understand it all. Not just for me, but for everyone who'll come after.....Mom. My entire family. All the elementals were targeted and killed. I want to understand why."
"We'll figure it out, angelo mia." Marcus tells her.
Sets of loud footsteps and heard outside the throne room, causing Logan to look up at the massive door of the throne room, hopefully.
The doors to the throne room open, and Demetri and Felix step in. His eyes immediately find hers, and his usual calm, guarded expression softens into something vulnerable and relieved.
"Logan." Demetri says. His voice low and thick with emotion.
Logan is instantly on her feet. She crosses the room at vampire speed to get to him. She immediately throws her arms around him and buries her face against his chest. Demetri's arms wrap around her tightly, holding her like he never wants to let go.
"I missed you." She whispers, voice muffled.
He pulls back just enough to look into her eyes, tracing the faint smile that's been waiting for him. "I never stopped thinking about you. Every moment away felt like a lifetime."
Logan smiles. "I am so glad you're back."
Demetri brushes a stray lock of hair behind her ear, his fingers gentle against her skin. "I promised I'd be careful and come back. And I always keep my promises."
They stand like that for a long moment, lost in each other's presence, the rest of the world fading away. Marcus watches quietly from his throne, a small smile playing at his lips. The warmth of the reunion still lingers between Logan and Demetri as Marcus clears his throat gently.
"Demetri, Felix, if you're ready, we would like an update on Seattle." Marcus says.
Demetri nods. Logan pulls back and takes Demetri's hand in her own. Demetri leads them closer to the platform where the kings are all sitting in their thrones.
Felix follows closely, his expression serious but composed.
Demetri squeezes Logan's hand gently before letting go so he can begin his report. His voice is steady but filled with the weight of recent events. "The newborn army was neutralized. Their leader, Riley Biers, was confirmed missing...likely dead. The real threat was the redhead vampire, Victoria."
Aro leans forward, his eyes narrowing. "Victoria...she has been a thorn for some time. What happened?"
Felix steps in. "She was building an army to exact revenge on the Cullens, especially Edward."
"A mate for a mate, right?" Logan asks.
Felix nods, confirming Logan's theory all along.
Demetri continues, "During the confrontation, Edward and the Cullens managed to take her and her newborn army down. Bella was protected the entire time." Demetri adds at the end, looking at Logan, who looks relieved that her friend is okay.
Marcus frowns slightly. "And the repercussions?"
"The Cullens were found to have broken several laws, most notably their failure to turn Bella within the agreed timeframe, and harboring a newborn from the army outside our jurisdiction." Demetri answers.
Aro's gaze sharpens. "Serious breaches."
"The Cullens have been summoned back to Volterra to answer for their actions. We escorted them safely back and will ensure proper protocol is followed. Jane has escorted the Cullens to the dungeons and Alec has escorted Bella to a guest room." Felix adds.
Marcus nods. "Well done, both of you. It's a delicate balance between enforcement and diplomacy."
Demetri glance at Logan, who smiles slightly at him, before looking back at the Kings.
Aro finally says "Prepare for their trial. We must make an example, yet maintain stability."
Caius stands, voice like steel. "We will not tolerate rebellion, but we must be precise."
Felix and Demetri exchange a glance before bowing slightly. "Understood, masters."
"Can I see Bella?" Logan asks
"Of course, angelo mia. But you mustn't discuss anything related to the upcoming trial with the Cullens." Marcus tells her.
"Promise." Logan says before looking at Demetri with an excited smile. She missed her friend.
The meeting adjourns, leaving a tense but controlled air as plans for the Cullens' trial move forward.
