Chapter 10

About a month has passed since Marcus and Logan patched things up. They were slowly getting to know each other. Marcus was much happier than he has been in centuries. Logan has gotten closer with both Marcus and Demetri. She was happy. She loved getting to know her father and she was falling in love with her mate. She still didn't fully trust Aro, but she was happy in Volterra and had no plans to leave. 

Logan was in the Kings' Personal Library reading an old book she found on elementals. Marcus gave her permission to use their library whenever she wanted and the book there greatly surpassed the books in the library that was available to all the others. 

Demetri has gotten off guard duty and set a surprise up for Logan before he went searching for his mate. 

"Cara mia. There you are." Demetri says as he walks into the Kings' Library and spots Logan.

"Hey Dem." Logan says with a smile. Demetri softly kisses her lips. "Done with your guard duties?"

"For today. Come with me. I have a surprise for you."

"A surprise?" Logan asks intrigued. "Alright. Just let me put this book away." Logan stands and puts the book away. She walks back over to where Demetri is. "Alright. I'm ready."

"You'll need this." Demetri says as he shows Logan one of her light jackets from their room. Demetri helps her into it. 

"When did you get my jacket?"

"Grabbed it from our room when you put the book away. Now shall we?" Demetri asks as he offers his mate his arm.

"We shall, my good sir." Logan says with a cheeky smile as she links arms with Demetri. 

Demetri led Logan outside the castle through the hidden entrance. 

"Where are we going?" Logan asks. 

"It's a surprise." Demetri says before he lifts Logan into his arms bridal style.

"Woah." Logan says with a laugh.

"Close your eyes," Demetri says and Logan gives him a look. "Trust me. I won't let anything happen to you." 

Logan fakes a dramatic sigh, "Oh very well." Logan says before closing her eyes. 

"Keep them closed until I tell you." Demetri says and Logan agrees. 

Demetri starts running and Logan can feel the air whipping around them. Demetri smiles as Logan snuggles into his arms and places her head in the crook of his neck. She is taking in his scent as he runs them to their destination. Logan is practically falling asleep in his arms. She is almost asleep when he stops. 

"Keep your eyes closed. I'm going to put you down." Demetri says

"Okay." Logan agrees. 

Demetri sets Logan on her feet and then turns her in a certain direction. "Just one second." Demetri says. Logan doesn't feel his presence anymore but a few seconds later Demetri was behind her again with his hands on her waist. Demetri bends down so his lips are brushing against the back of Logan's ear and he whispers, "Okay. Open your eyes."

Logan shivers a bit from the feeling of Demetri's lips against her ear and his breath fanning against her. Demetri smirks at the effect he has on her. She opens her eyes and a wide smile overtakes her face. 

"Demetri." Logan breathes out in shocked awe looking at the scene before looking at Demetri over her shoulder. "You set this up?"

"Mm-hmm." Demetri hums as he nods. "Do you like it?"

"I love it." She says before placing a soft kiss on his lips. "It's perfect."

Demetri had set up a small picnic on the edge of a cliff overlooking the water. It was easily Logan's definition of what a perfect date would be.
