Elemental Magic - Demetri Volturi

Chapter 11

Demetri and Logan walked back into the castle after their date with smiles on their faces. Logan was laughing and Demetri was smiling at her laugh. Logan has been teasing Demetri for most of the run home, having him chase after her and find her in different places in the woods. Demetri caught her and intended to collect his prize so he was itching to rush them into their room. 

Before he could pick her up and whisk her away, Alec and Jane approached them. 

"There you are, Demetri. The Masters need us." Alec says and Demetri and Logan's smiles drop. The Kings wouldn't bother Demetri when he was off duty unless it's important. 

"I'm supposed to be off the rest of the night. What's going on?" Demetri asks

"Trouble's brewing in the States." Alec says

"It shouldn't matter what's going on. The Masters require our presence." Jane says

"Yes. I know Jane." Demetri says as he rolls his eyes. "I was coming anyway. I just didn't know if you had any idea what it was about."

"They'll tell us when we arrive." Jane says

Demetri turns to Logan. "I'll find you later."

"Actually, I'm going to join you." Logan says and Demetri didn't care so he nodded.

"Let's go. We don't want to keep them waiting." Alec says.

"You were not asked to be present." Jane says to Logan.

"And yet I'm going to be." Logan says. 

"This is none of your concern."

"It is if my mate is asked to go out for some mission. I'll end up finding out about it anyway so I'll just hear it first hand instead of from Demetri later. Besides, I need to talk to Marcus anyway."

"We were only asked to bring Demetri."

"You were asked for one but you're bringing two, clever girl." Logan says mimicking what Alec said on the day she arrived in Volterra. Demetri tries to hide a snort. 

"Jane just let it go. You know the Masters won't care if she is there." Alec says before Jane could respond.

"Very well. Let's go." Jane says

"I still don't get her problem with me." Logan mumbles to Demetri.

"You challenge her and she hates that." Demetri says. 

"She'll just have to get used to it because I'm not changing." 

Demetri laughs. "I wouldn't want you to, amore mia."

They arrive at the throne room and follow the witch twins in. The kings are standing at a table with Felix looking over different new papers and there is a laptop playing a news report. 

"Ahh Demetri, there you are. And you brought, dear Logan as well. How are you, my dear?" Aro asks as Logan walks over and hugs Marcus. 

"I'm doing well, Aro. And yourself?" Logan responds

"Well as I can be."

"You requested my presence, masters?" Demetri says

"Yes. It seems we have a situation arising in Seattle."  Marcus informs.

"There is a rise of suspicious deaths in the area. The local news is currently reporting it as a serial killer but it looks to be newborns." Caius informs as a war general would with his posture straight and his hands behind his back. "We have been tracking the situation for the past few weeks and have decided it is best to send the four of you out on a mission to Seattle to investigate and deal with them."
