WICKED GAME [shadow and bone] ON HOLD

author's note IMPORTANT!

hello everyone who're still reading this book (or waiting for more updates). this is going to be long, so bear with me. but it's also important so you better read it.

it's been a while since i last updated this story and the reason for this is because i have finally decided to start something much bigger. the idea of this plot obviously started when i watched the show but ever since netflix announced that they have cancelled the show it had me thinking about the future. 

honestly speaking, no plot or character i have ever created has stuck to me so hard like this one. katerina kozlowski is officially my favourite oc and so is her story and i realized that with the way how this story is going it's not going to give my favorite oc justice. I have never worked so hard on shaping a character and their back story in my six or so years of writing fanfictions like i have done with this one. 

and so i decided to rewrite all of this, BUT this time the plot will be based form the books, not the show. and as you probably guessed a lot of things will be different. here's a few things that will change:

1. first and foremost, i am planning this story to be huge, and when i'm saying huge, i mean the whole grishaverse huge. we have shadow and bone trilogy, six of crows duology, and king of scars duology... and i'm planning to go through them all. (well maybe not six of crows but there will be bits and pieces from crooked kingdom). soo you know the scale.

2. the love interest is not going to be kaz brekker for obvious reasons. in the show the crows were introduced quite fast and the whole crow storyline was tied with the shadow and bone storyline. as you all know in the books its all different and so the story itself is going to end up much different.

3. a lot of people will probably wonder who is going to be the main love interest then.... and you know what... I'm NOT going to tell you. why? lately whenever i'm reading a fanfiction i hate how love or relationship focused they are. like, the oc interacts with the supposed love interest and that's it, the story revolves around that and everything else seems irrelevant. and whenever the love interest pops in the scene the people reading the story are supposed to expect some kind of interaction or smth. well that is not what's going to happen this time, the story will be long and the character development will be there too, and that leads us to the fourth point.

4. the story will be all about my oc katerina kozlowski and her character development through all the books. i have built her own story, her past and role in this universe, and everything fits in so well it's actually crazy. I have reached the point that whenever i see some rare edits on tiktok about grishaverse i get confused why katerina kozlowski is not in them and then comes the realization that she's not actually canon. in my mid her role is so real that at this point leigh bardugo can rewrite the whole story with my oc in it (i'm joking of course). of course, there will be a love interest (or several), the oc will end up with someone at the end, the relationships will be there, but i have decided to not put too much focus on that.

5. some may ask why not finish this one and then continue the other version. 

when watching the second season i realized that the plot was rushed so much i actually hated it . i knew how everything ended in the books and i hoped so much that it will be similar in the show but it was not. ngl i was disappointed. and while i still wanted to continue writing even through the rushed events, then came the announcement that the show was cancelled. and now that was the real turning point. 

i was actually grieving when i realized that the story will be left unfinished, i'm not even joking. to heal something in me i started rereading the books and that's when the idea came to me that maybe i can rewrite all this but much, much better. 

I remember now i mentioned this whole plan in one of my previous author's notes but that was when thought that i'll finish this one and then focus on the other one. but then i realized that there are so many things about my oc that i wanted to explain better and the plot of the show just can't give me that room to do that. so i've decided to do this instead.

for anyone who loved this story specifically, i probably will return to it at some point to finish it, but it won't be anytime soon, i'm sorry.

for now this book will be on hold for a while, but once i'll start publishing the other version i'll take this one down for a time being (so not to mess with people's heads with the two versions).

I can't say specifically when i'll start publishing the new version, but i hope that it will happen soon. lately i've been slowly coming back to writing, and it feels so good to write. the writer's block is insane, but the love i have for my oc is also insane. 

i sincerely hope that you will understand my decisions, and look positively to the new, better version of this story.
