(Will be a short chapter because, well, not much to say for this one and using it as filler, so yeah double chapter today.)
Sitting in the basement of the stylist's home was... Out of this world after all that went down.
Staring out of her own head, Perc sat there, on some random box of fabric.
Just... How many had died? So... So many.
And it was visible on others' faces too.
"I'm so sorry..." Katniss' voice sliced through the heavy silence between the survivors of this tunnel ordeal. "I lied, I lied Coin didn't send me to kill Snow... That was my own plan... Own selfish plan... And they died because of me."
"Katniss." Finnick said with a sigh, not truly knowing how to feel, not because he blamed her, more like... His emotions died in the tunnels, and only numb shock was left in his body.
The mute man, whose name Percy never learned, shook his head despite the tears at the death of his brother, gesturing something only the camera woman would understand.
"We knew." Katniss looked at her. "We all knew and decided to come with you, to side with you. Jackson knew you lied, and yet she, too, chose to let it go. All those who died and all those who live followed you because they believe in you."
"From Tresh to Rue to Cato," Percy muttered, rubbing her hand down her face, looking over at Katniss. "From Artemis to Jackson to Gale even... All died because of Snow... All the people before us, all the previous 73 games, and the rebellion before it, all died for Snow's joy... If you kill him today Katniss, their deaths will not be in vain."
Shaking herself off as she stands, tapping the rings together as if it meant something, of past and future or something poetic if she was creative, but it was more like... She needed to do something with her hands.
"If you kill him Katniss, all of this would have been worth it, and to make sure you get there, I'll keep following."
"Percy..."
"I promised once I'd protect you yeah? I don't go back on my promises."
