AUTHOR POV~
Mrs. Jeon stood at the edge of the porch, arms folded tightly, eyes narrowed in worry and frustration. The sun was already leaning west, casting golden hues across the lawn, but Jungkook hadn't returned home yet.
Jun came, head slightly bowed.
"Jun" Mrs. Jeon's sharp voice called. "Where is Jungkook? Why hasn't he come back yet?" Jun hesitated, his throat tightening. "Ma'am… Master- he's safe. He's just… resting."
"Resting" Her eyes widened in disbelief. "I've heard the workers say they saw his car entering the farm. Why would he go there? Speak Jun. Or I swear I'll have you fired."
"He's at the safehouse, ma'am" Jun finally confessed.
Mrs. Jeon's face turned pale, then flushed red with fury. "With whom?" she hissed, already turning to leave. "If you won't tell me the full truth, I'll see it myself." Mr. Jeon, watching from the living room, immediately followed his wife.
Y/N was folding clothes when the door slammed open. Mrs. Jeon stood at the doorway, rage etched across her face.
"Mrs. Jeon-"
Before she could finish, a hard slap landed across Y/N's cheek.
"Sohee-" Mr. Jeon's voice cracked as he rushed in. He pulled Y/N into a hug protectively, glaring at his wife. "Have you lost your mind?!"
Mrs. Jeon's lip trembled. "I've lost my mind? It's because of her her- that our son got shot. Twice. I waited here like a fool thinking my son would return only to find out he'd bring this girl again?”
Mr. Jeon gently said, "Sohee, our son is a gentleman, he knows how to protect the family and he brought her back because she's part of our family. He made that choice himself. Y/N never asked him to."
"So our son's sense of responsibility is to keep bringing danger to our door?" Mrs. Jeon snapped. "Who's going to protect him?" Y/N trembling, stepped forward. "Uncle she's right… it's all because of me that Jungkook got hurt. I'm sorry, Mrs. Jeon." She folded her hands. "Truly sorry"
"If you realize that, then reflect on it. What have I or my son done to deserve this? Why can't you leave him alone?" Mrs. Jeon said, her voice cracking. "Please… I'm begging you. Leave him alone. Let me have my son live in peace."
Y/N's eyes welled with tears. "No aunty please… please Don't join your hands, don't beg" she whispered. But Mrs. Jeon turned and left with teary eyes. Mr. Jeon hugged Y/N.
"She's just overwhelmed, sweetheart. I'll talk to her." Jun, standing nearby, quickly texted Jungkook.
Jungkook stood when his phone buzzed. His expression changed as he read Jun's message. Moments later, he was speeding home.
He entered the living room. "Mom"
Mrs. Jeon sat stiffly in the living room, her arms crossed, eyes focused on the door even before Jungkook walked in. As soon as he stepped into the house, he paused at the threshold, his eyes immediately landing on his mother.
"Mom..." his voice was soft, careful.
She didn't respond at first. Instead she leaned back against the sofa, letting the cold silence fill the air. Finally, she spoke, voice sharp but low.
"So you still know the way back home?"
Jungkook sighed and stepped closer. "I'm sorry, Mom."
"You're sorry?" she repeated, almost scoffing. "You can do anything you want, Jungkook. Handle the business however you like. Run away for days if it pleases you. But when it comes to Y/N..." she stood up, her voice tightening, "you don't get to make that decision. Not again. Not when I'm still alive."Jungkook stayed silent for a moment, trying to choose the right words.
