AUTHOR'S POV~
The sun hadn't even fully risen when Mrs. Jeon walked into the safehouse. The sky was still dusted with lavender and silver and the air was cool, too cool for the summer warmth to have reached just yet.
She had brought breakfast. Fresh rice porridge, sesame soup for Jungkook. But the moment she stepped inside everything stopped.
There they were.
Jungkook and Y/N, fast asleep in each other's arms. The blanket just high enough to protect modesty, but nothing could hide the intimacy, of their entangled bodies. Her head rested on his chest. His arm curled around her like a shield from the world.
Her breath hitched. Her hands trembled. The bag slid from her grip and hit the floor with a soft thud.
"Y/N!" she shouted voice trembling with more heartbreak than rage. The two on the bed startled awake. She sat up instantly, grabbing the blanket to cover herself. Jungkook followed, alarmed reaching for his shirt.
"Aunty-" she started her voice hoarse.
"You promised me" Sohee whispered eyes burning. "You promised me you wouldn't come near him. You said you'd leave. And now this?" Her voice rose, tight and sharp like a snapped violin string.
He stepped forward shielding her instinctively.
"Mom-don't talk to her like that."
"I knew she would betray her word" Sohee hissed. "You've changed Jungkook. You're not the son who once listened to me. You-"
"I'm still your son" he said his voice low heavy with pain. "But I'm also a man who's in love. And if that makes me a bad son then so be it."
She stood up pulling the blanket tight around herself. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears. "Aunty please… I never wanted to hurt you. I-"
But Sohee had already turned around and walked out.
The door slammed shut.
And silence filled the room like mourning.
She quietly began dressing. She didn't look at Jungkook. He sat at the edge of the bed shoulders hunched staring at the floor like it might give him answers that he didn't have.
"I'll talk to her" he finally said.
"No" she replied pulling her cardigan around her shoulders. "Jungkook please. We already talked about this. You promised me you wouldn't "
"But I didn't promise to just…watch you leave" he said voice cracking.
"Don't make this harder for me Jungkook, please" she whispered back still turned.
He stood. "So you've already decided. No matter what I say no matter what I feel…"
"If loving me puts a wedge between you and your mother then I'd rather walk away" she said and when she turned around tears were already falling.
He let out a pained chuckle. "So that's it? You've already made up your mind. No matter what I say what I feel… it doesn't matter does it?"He took a deep breath eyes searching hers. "If obeying her is what makes you happy… if leaving me is what brings her peace hen fine. I'll listen. I'll let you go." He laughed bitterly shaking his head. "If that makes you and mom happy then okay.
Later that day, he came home. Sohee was standing in the living room, arms crossed. She looked like she hadn't moved in hours.
"Mom" he said.
"Oh? You remember this house? You remember you have a mother?" she snapped.
"Please" he sighed rubbing his temple. "Can we talk?"
