Bogum was sitting in his study when Jin entered with a glass of milk mixed with honey and placed it on the table.
"I know it's the weekend but you should sleep now. It's been hours since you're in your study so I decided to give you this glass it will help you to sleep." Bogum sighed in contentment and gave Jin a short and tired smile.
"I was searching for really important things and you're the lucky one for me that I got one after your glass of milk." He winked and drank the milk.
"Oh, nice... now you need to sleep and I need my beauty sleep too." Bogum nodded and saw him walking to the door with a smile yet sleepy face, but he stopped at the door.
"By the way what were you searching? Is it about Taehyung guy?" Bogum got a glimpse of a concern look in those eyes of Jin as he was also worried for his Taebear.
"Yeah... and I'm sure he will be fine as well as you..." he said the last words more quietly. Jin stood there for a moment then left after saying good night to Bogum who repeated with an equal smile.
Taehyung woke up from his sleep, and he instinctively reached out to the other side of the bed, expecting the familiar coolness of his vampire mate. His hand met nothing but cold sheets.
His eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the dim light filtering through the heavy curtains. The bed was empty. The faint impression of his mate’s body on the mattress was already fading, as if he had been gone for some time.
A quiet unease settled in his chest.
He sat up, brushing a hand through his hair, trying to shake off the lingering fog of sleep. The silence of the room seemed too vast, too heavy.
“Where did you go?” he murmured into the emptiness, his voice barely above a whisper.
And though no one answered, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something had changed while he slept.
His heart beat a little faster as he swung his legs over the side of the bed, feeling the cool wooden floor beneath his feet. He glanced at the clock on the bedside table—3:27 a.m. The hour between night and dawn, when shadows seemed deeper and secrets easier to keep.
He stood and noticed something on the pillow where his mate’s head had rested. A folded scrap of parchment, sealed with deep red wax. His breath caught as he picked it up, the familiar, elegant script spelling his name across the front.
He hesitated before breaking the seal, almost afraid of what he might read.
Beloved Taehyung,
Do not worry. There are matters I had to tend to before you woke. I will return to you before the sun dares to rise. Wait for me.
—Yours, Jungkook.
Relief mingled with a prickling curiosity. What matters could draw the vampire king away so suddenly—and at such an hour? He pressed the note to his chest for a moment, feeling the faintest trace of his mate’s cold scent clinging to the paper.
Somewhere in the house, a floorboard creaked. He turned sharply, his pulse leaping, wondering if it was just the house settling—or if he was no longer alone.
And then, as if stirred by the hush, his memories began to surface—images flickering behind his eyes like an old film reel.
A candlelit hall lined with portraits. A throne of carved obsidian. A voice—his voice—speaking in a language older than any he had learned in this life.
You belong to me, as you always have.
He pressed a hand to his forehead, gasping. These visions had been coming for months now—fragmented glimpses of another life, centuries past. He had thought them dreams. Now he wasn’t so sure.
He walked to the tall mirror by the wardrobe. Under the faint light, he studied his reflection. Nothing looked different—same tousled hair, same tired eyes. Yet in those eyes, he was starting to see the stranger he must have been.
He remembered standing in the same place, in another century, wearing garments no human alive would recognize. And his vampire—his mate—had been there, promising that time could never sever what bound them.
A floorboard creaked in the hall. He turned sharply, pulse leaping.
“Jungkook... Is it you?” he whispered into the darkness.
No answer came, but something deep inside told him he hadn’t truly been left alone. He could feel his mate’s presence, like a cold breath against his skin, and with it the certainty that their shared past was finally awakening—piece by piece.
The silence stretched, thick and expectant. He took a step toward the bedroom door, the note still clutched in his hand.
Every chill in the air felt like a ghost of the past brushing his skin.
He reached for the handle but froze as another memory tore through him—so vivid it stole his breath.
A moonless night. A courtyard paved with black stone glistening under lantern light. He stood there, cloaked in a fine mantle, while the vampire approached with measured steps, his eyes bright as garnet.
“You will forget this.”
“No—”
“You will forget until the time is right. And when you remember, you will come back to me.”
His chest ached as the vision dissolved, leaving the taste of ancient sorrow on his tongue. All these years, he’d believed he was just a man who’d fallen in love with a creature of the dark. But it was older than that. Older than his current lifetime.
"No no no no..." he was shaking badly.
"I'm a human... why am I seeing such things. I'm human yes I'm..." he was consoling himself like that but he didn't know about him self if he was human or is human???
