The night sky split open with fire and screams. Hunters poured into the vampire lands, cloaked in the protection of the witches’ spells, their weapons laced with silver and blood charms that burned on contact. The clash of steel and the hiss of dark magic filled the air as innocent vampires those who had no part in the war, fell mercilessly beneath the assault.
Jungkook stood at the frontlines, a force of raw power, his eyes glowing like embers as he tore through enemy after enemy.
Shadows coiled at his command, the ground trembling beneath his rage. Yet even with his strength, he felt the ache of incompleteness, because his mate was not by his side.
Back in the castle, his beloved lay unconscious, their bond dimmed but not broken. Every strike Jungkook delivered felt heavier, slower, as though his own blood resisted him, still, he refused to falter.
Namjoon was worried for Jungkook who was worried for his loved ones, his clan, and his family.
Jungkook was protecting his clan and Yoongi with Jimin making their way to escape from the hunters and witches. Spells rained down upon him, searing his flesh, yet he didn’t stop. His clan needed him. The innocents needed him. He would not allow his people to be slaughtered while he still drew breath.
Each wound cut deeper. Each spell burned longer. And though his enemies fell, more rose in their place, fueled by witchcraft and merciless intent.
Jungkook fought on, unstoppable, unyielding, while a single thought pulsed through him like fire in his veins. I must protect them… until my mate awakens.
Inside the castle, the silence was shattered. Taehyung’s chest heaved as his eyes snapped open, gasping for air as if he had been pulled back from drowning.
A searing pain ripped through his body, the echo of his bond because far beyond those stone walls, Jungkook was faltering. He felt it like a blade lodged deep into his veins.
His vision blurred, but the image was clear, Jungkook, his mate, was on his knees. Out on the battlefield, hunters and witches circled like vultures, and every curse, every bolt of magic was aimed only at him. They wanted the king controlled, broken, on his knees forever.
Taehyung pressed a trembling hand to his chest, the bond throbbing wildly. No… he’s suffering.
The connection burned so fiercely it bent him double with pain, but the agony only sharpened his resolve. With every ounce of strength left in his recovering body, he staggered from the bed, dragging his breath like a dying man but refusing to stop.
On the battlefield, Jungkook’s claws dug into the dirt as he struggled to rise again. His body trembled under the weight of enchantments woven to shackle him, his fangs bared in defiance as blood trailed from his lips.
Jimin with Yoongi protect their clan people but couldn't protect themselves. Namjoon fought with Jungkook but he was struggling with the silver knife around his thigh that was weakening him with the passage of time. The blood was scattered in the whole battlefield, yet they tried to secure their king... the last Jeon.
Witches raised their hands in unison, threads of dark magic twining together into a chain meant to bind him once and for all.
And then, like a flare in the night, the bond pulsed.
Jungkook’s head snapped up, eyes wide with disbelief, because beneath the crushing weight of spells, he felt it. His mate was awake.
Taehyung’s pain bled into him through the bond, but so did his fire, his will. Even broken, even trembling, Taehyung’s awakening sent strength surging into Jungkook’s veins, snapping chains that should have shackled him.
He rose, shaking, fangs bared in a snarl that made even the hunters pause. With the faintest, pained whisper, he breathed his mate’s name.
“Taehyung…”
And the battlefield trembled. And a hope rose in the dead hearts of the clan.
The castle walls quivered as Taehyung’s body straightened, his chest rising with newfound strength.
Memories came flooding back, crashing like waves the countless lives he had shared with Jungkook, their bond forged across centuries, their love, their battles, their vows never to part.
It was as if a locked door inside him had finally been broken open, and his true self poured out in a storm of light and power.
His eyes glowed, brighter than the moon, and the bond snapped fully into place, blazing alive. Every fragment of weakness evaporated. Every nerve thrummed with purpose. His mate was dying out there, kneeling beneath the witches’ curses. No one touches him. Not while I breathe.
In a blur, Taehyung moved. The world bent around his speed, the air cracked, and the earth groaned as he vanished from the castle like a streak of light. Hunters barely had time to raise their weapons when he cut through the battlefield, their heads turning too late to follow the impossible speed.
Jungkook’s body swayed, bloodied and bound in chains of magic, when the ground thundered. A shockwave of pure energy ripped through the field as Taehyung arrived, planting himself between Jungkook and the army of hunters and witches. His aura blazed so fiercely that torches flickered out, shadows scattering in fear.
Witches froze mid-spell, their faces paling. The power radiating from him was ancient, untamed, unstoppable.
Taehyung’s voice was low, venomous, carrying across the battlefield like a vow of death.
"YOU DARED TO TOUCH WHAT'S MINE..."
The chains binding Jungkook shattered as the bond surged. Taehyung’s hand hovered protectively in front of his mate, his power radiating outward like a storm ready to annihilate anyone who dared to step forward.
For the first time, it wasn’t the King standing alone. It was the King and his returned Mate united, unstoppable, and ready to bring hell upon anyone who tried to break them apart.
