Through the water you saw me
but I didn't see you.
Captured smiling I was
but I wasn't smiling at you.
I enjoy you with me
and I cherish you even more.
Your lips frown
and I exist to liven them back.
When your gaze looked for mine
it was already averted.
When you laid yourself out
I turned your feelings bare.
I hate your being gone
and you're deserving of more.
My words misspeak constantly
and I curse myself eternally.
I plead for you grace
so that I may learn from this.
My assurance to you
will outweigh any forgiveness.
Hold me to what I promise
in case I forget again.
Tell me what I said
so that I can say it again.
