Chapter 8 

Vergil’s POV

“Explain one last thing to me,” I asked.

Alex nodded. “Alright.”

“How did you know that you needed to come here to get us?”

He shrugged. “I didn’t. The portal, which looks like an hourglass, just brings me to the next place.”

“Did you choose to do this?” Nero asked.

He shook his head. “No.” He faced all of us. “The portal we’re looking for looks like an hourglass,” he told me.

Nero stretched. “I’ll help you out before I get going to Order HeadQuarters.”

He nodded. “Thank you.”

We walked out of the shop and Nero locked up. He shoved the keys in his pockets and nodded. “We should go in pairs,” he told us.

I nodded. “In case demons attack.”

“Good point,” Alex said. “Archer, go with Verg-”

“I’ll go with Hector!” Archer said hastily.

I found it strange but then I realised it was because of what he did before. I smirked and nodded. Alex raised his eyebrow. “Sure. I’ll go with Vergil and Helen, you can go with Nero.”

Everyone nodded. Alex and I headed north while Nero and Helen headed west. The idiot and Hector headed east. As we searched, I sensed demons. A lot of demons.

I sighed. “Demons.” I turned to Alex. “I’ll handle them. Just stay where you are.”

He shrugged. “Fine.”

I closed my eyes and opened them again as I turned into my demon mode. My clothes were slightly ripped and my hair was spikier than before. My wings popped out in the same blue colour as my clothes. The insignia on my chest burned with white light. It was the sign of us devils.

I took Yamato out and flew into the air as the demons came close. I stayed hovering in the air and sliced all of them within a second. I landed on the ground and turned back to my human form. Alex gave me a confused look as the demons were still coming towards me. I placed Yamato back into its case and when Yamato made a ‘click’ sound, all the demons were sliced in half.

Alex folded his arms. “Impressive.”

“Let’s carry on.”

“How did you know there were demons around if you couldn’t see them?”

“I am part demon.”

“Oh.” We carried on walking and I saw a lightning strike in the air. Alex stopped since he saw it too. “Vergil, that way. Someone’s found it.”

He pointed in the air and I saw it was in the eastern direction where the idiot went. I nodded. “Alright.”

I transformed into my demon form and grabbed Alex from the back of his shirt. I flew in that direction straight towards the lightning strike. When I saw the idiot there, I flew down and landed with Alex still clinging onto my arm. I let go of him.

“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU AND WHY DID YOU GRAB ALEX?!” Archer demanded.

I shook my head at him as I turned into my human form. “Seriously, do you not have a bind for this one?” I asked.
