Chapter 1

The waves of the sea water crashed against the crystal blue edges of the dark sand. The tall, dark ancient buildings were built near the edges of the beach. Little pieces of crystal were lying on the beach, glowing and fading each second. In the city, the only three buildings that stood out, where the ones surrounded by the green glowing glass. They looked like the tracks of a rollercoaster, sitting on top of the three buildings. The one with the biggest amount of the green glass designed onto it is known as Etro’s tower. It shined even in darkness. It was tallest in Valhalla.

The Knight of Valhalla stepped out onto the balcony on Etro’s Tower. She looked around Valhalla itself. Her long pink hair was brought to her left shoulder as her aqua eyes searched for the enemy with determination. She wore a silver and gold Valkyrie-like suit of armour with a shield on her right arm. She wears thigh-high armour boots and over her left leg a long sash made of white feathers, symbolising her connection to Etro. On her chest plate was an image of a golden bird.

She saw the one man in the water. Her fated enemy rival. The man was a tall muscular man with light bronze skin and purple eyes. He had long purple hair adorned with feathers and tribal beads and he wore a long purple and black headband. He wore a form-fitting black and purple armour with dark boots line with white fur. His weapon was on his back. Surprisingly, the sword on his back had a closed eye on it.

The man had been placing a girl in the water. She had an oval face with long coral dark blue hair that had two long strands framing her face. She wore a white halter-like top with an opening in the centre and a small crystal above her chest. She wore a short wrap around pleated white and pastel purple skirt with a fur pelt in the back along with bright yellow boots. Her wrists were adorned with numerous bracelets and armbands around her biceps. She disappeared in light blue crystal, causing her death. He turned to look at the Knight of Valhalla in anger.

The Knight of Valhalla summoned her gun blade. The gun blade was traditional and had writing on it. She summoned a gigantic horned knight wearing a cape and wielding a large double-sided sword with an “S” shape in one hand, with a massive shield on his opposite arm.

The two jumped off the balcony and she summoned an army of monsters against the man. The battle was lead onto the beach. The Knight’s summon, Odin, transformed into a horse with three sets of purple eyes. His “S” shaped sword was now in the Knight’s hand as she rode Odin and she split the sword through the middle.

The man took his weapon out and held it in his right hand. He smirked. “Come at me, Knight of Etro,” he said. “Lose yourself in battle and rejoice!”

The Knight ignored him and continued to gallop towards him. The man was easily cutting through the army of monsters and was running towards the Knight. Two other summons known as the Shiva sisters were making their way towards him. They were both blue in colour. They looked like women of course but one had darker hair than the other. One of the sisters hit the man with blizzard three times. The man was frozen. The other sister ran to the man but he grabbed her neck. The man was out of the ice and attacked both the sisters. He threw the sister whose neck he had grabbed a the other sister.

“Is this the best of your pathetic army?” he asked the Knight who was coming straight at him. “Do better than that.”

The Knight jumped in the air. “Caius Ballad!!” she yelled. She hit his sword with both of her weapons.

Both of them back away. Their backs face each other. “Impressive,” he said.

“Save it,” she replied angrily.

“Hm.”

Both of them clashed with their weapons. She jumped backwards and aimed at him with her gun. He moved out of the way and when she was about to hit him with her sword, he caught her weapon.

“Let’s end this,” he replied as he pulled her weapon for it to aim at his heart.

The heart glowed bright red. She gasped as she pulled away. “That glow…!”

Caius jumped backwards and transformed into a dark version of a flying beast which had red eyes. It had claws which were now launched at the Knight. She held her sword up and blocked the attack. She managed to push the claw away but the other claw flicked her to the other end of the beach.

She landed on her summon, Odin. She sat properly and the weapons that belonged to Odin appeared in her hands. Dark Bahamut, the bird that Caius had transformed into had approached her.

“Damn it,” she cursed. Here, she knew she had her hands full. She had to stop Caius.

Alexander’s POV

I ran my hand through my brown hair. I wanted to get out of the island I had been deserted on. It may have been a school for people like me who did something wrong but it was absolute torture. It was finally my turn to leave. I was 18. I packed everything of mine. But I had no idea what I was going to do.

As I was about to leave, the ferry was late so I had to wait at the port. I couldn’t wait any longer but I didn’t show it. Someone put their hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see Mrs Casnoff. Her glassy blue eyes gazed at my luggage then my own brown ones.

“Are you sure you want to leave?” she asked me.

I nodded. “Yes. I want to see the outside world.”

She looked at the sea. “It’s a dangerous world out there.”

I shrugged. “I know. What’s life without a little bit of danger?”

“True. I guess once you’re going, we’re going to have to invest in a lot more bandages around here.”

I looked at her. “You might get more healers around here later on.”

“We could use you here. You can be the groundskeeper of the school.”

The ferry finally arrived. “As appealing as that sounds, Mrs Casnoff, I don’t want to. I want to travel. See what’s out there.” I picked up my luggage and headed to the ferry. “Goodbye, Mrs Casnoff.”

“Hmph. Goodbye.”

I walked towards the ferry and headed onto it. The Captain told me which room I was going to stay in for the journey and I headed there. I put my luggage on the table that was there and sat on the bed. I let out a deep breath before closing my eyes for a while. Without realising, I fell asleep.

When I woke, I heard people yelling outside. I stood up and headed out of the room. I found the sailors around the ship, running like headless chickens. I headed onto the deck and all I saw were dark clouds above the ship. Surprisingly, it was only around the ship.

I walked up to the Captain. “What the hell is going on?”

“Can’t you see?” the Captain yelled over the wind. “There’s a storm comin’! Get inside while you still can! None of you little brats need to need to do a thing!”

I resisted the urge to give him a sarcastic comment and made my way back towards the room I was staying in. But what stopped me was a lightning strike. I looked behind me and noticed it hit the ship. The ship was burning. Some of the sailors were injured. I cursed and ran over to them. I was about to heal them but the lightning struck the ship again. The sailors were going overboard. The Captain fled with the survivors in the smaller boat.

‘That piece of crap,’ I thought. ‘Left me here on my own.’

I had to make sure I didn’t get hit by any more lightning and started healing. But I didn’t notice a particular lightning strike which hit the ship, blasting the entire ship to little pieces. Everyone on the ship, including me, were thrown off the ship, into the air, landing in the water.

I was underwater. I swam up to the surface and looked at the broken ship. The ship was burning. Another lightning strike hit the burning ferry again. The wooden boards of the ship flew in the air from the impact and a wooden board was flung in my direction. I was about to move but it was too late. The board hit my head and I felt myself lose consciousness.
