"Excuse me." I said as I held my files closer to me trying to make my way through them. Just as I'm about to leave, sir decides to call me. "Jannah?" Yes?"
I turned around and the first person I saw gazing at me was AJ. "Meet AJ. He is our new Editor in chief. " Mr. Malak pointed at him. I nod my head without saying a word hoping that that would be enough for him to let me go.
"And your name?" AJ asked as he pulled his face closer to mine giving in a huge smirk. "Jannah." "Pleasure to meet you. I hope you don't mind me asking but what is your job title?"
I let out an inside sigh as I pulled in a fake smile. "I'm one of the news reporters. And now if you'll excuse me, I've got to get going." "Oh of course ma'am." I turned around as I rolled my eyes. I don't know what game AJ is trying to play but I do know that I might just get tangled in it. AJ is too smart.
I sat down on the chair and put my files down on the table.
"So are you ready?" I looked up and saw Khalid. "I guess." I said as I shrugged my shoulders. "You guess?" "I'm sorry is this Jannah?" "What do you mean?" He pulled out a chair and sat down facing me. And when I say facing me, I mean facing me.
"I mean, what's wrong? You've never seemed so less confident." I couldn't help myself but chuckle at his comment. "No. Trust me I'm fine." "Are you sure?" "Yeah." "Well, take my advice don't get nervous. And if you do. Well you know what to do. It works for all Muslims." He winked at me.
"You're such a clown Khalid." I said as I laughed. Wallah if you knew what he meant you would roll your eyes at him. He smiled a little and I noticed how his eyes shined. In him I saw Malak which was very weird.
I looked away as fast as I could once I realized that we wear staring at each other for quite a time.
"Miss. Jannah." I stood up when an old man appeared to me. "Mr. Freedman." I said as I smiled heart warmly. "Welcome." "Thank you Miss. Jannah." "Please call me Jannah." He nodded his head and took a big smile out.
I have never seen an old person smile like this before. It's amazing. Masallah. "Please sit." "Thank you."
AJ'S POV
When I first walked in the air room I saw Jannah and Khalid together. Isn't he the boss's brother? Also the one who saved Jannah? Whoever he could be, I'm not happy with what I'm seeing. His making her laugh. Why? That's my job.
I can't do anything that will blow my cover so I might as well just observe him and find out certain information. "AJ right?" I snapped out of daydreaming when a female voice spoke to me.
I turned my head around and saw a blonde beautiful girl but not as beautiful as Jannah. She had on red lipstick that could make you want to stare at her lips. Her blue eyes were smiling at me just like she was. Her hair was neatly placed. And her smile was just something else.... Absolutely beautiful!
"Yes." I finally spoke. "Amanda." She said as she reached her hand out to me. I took her hand and shock it smiling. "Pleasure to meet you ma'am." I said as I nod my head. "The pleasure's all mine." She said returning the smile back.
"So you're the new Editor in chief?" She said as she offered me to sit down. "Yes I am." "I hope you know that you are in for some serious work." "So I've heard." She smiled at me and looked away. "Excuse me." She walked out fast.
"ARE YOU ALL SET JANNAH?" A man asked her. "Yes!" She shouted.
"OKAY! And we are live in air on 3,2,1...."
"Good afternoon, this is Jannah speaking and I am here with Mr. Freedman the well known survivor of the K.G.B crime victim...."
