CHIPS
Eden tidied up around the house seeing as her mother was working the weekend to reel in some extra cash. She thought the silence was relieving for once as she chucked in a load of laundry and folded up the new laundry. She placed each clothing item into the piles that they belonged to; her mother's, father's or hers. She walked back into her room carrying the pile of her clothing before hearing her phone vibrate. Eden walked over to her bedside table and read.
new message from harry
11:24PM you should probably look outside of your window
message sent to harry
11:24PM why what's going on???
Eden's eyebrows furrowed as she looked over at the drawn curtains before looking back down at the screen when it vibrated again. She bit her lip as she ran her fingertip over one of the corners.
new message from harry
11:25PM just look you idiot
Instead of typing back a reply, Eden stepped over a pile of books to get to the window. She parted the curtains and looked outside; at the front of her house, Harry stood just off of the lawn as he tucked his phone away in his jacket. He looked up a moment after and smiled when he saw her. Eden mouthed "what" down to him and he nodded his head towards his car which was parallel parked across the street. She looked back at him to see him lean his palms on the front fence. She motioned to him to wait and he nodded again before she shut her curtains. Eden quickly ran back into the laundry room to see how much time she had left before the load had finished. 60 minutes. She thought it would be fine if it sat for even a little longer than that and remembered her mum might come back and place it in the drier. She walked back into her room and peered down at her attire. Eden shook her head as she dug through the new pile of clothes sifting out a new t-shirt and jeans.
Once she had changed, she peered in the mirror, ran her fingers through the length of her short hair before switching off the light and heading for the stairs. She chucked on a knit sweater that lay on the arm of the couch before sliding into her coat. She wrapped her scarf around her neck, zipped up the coat and grabbed her house keys out of the bowl beside the door. After keeping the light in the living room on, she turned to leave and locked the door behind her. Harry was already sat in the car looking down at his lap as he waited. Eden looked both ways before crossing the street to his car. Harry's head bolted up when he noticed her waiting at the door and unlocked it for her. She slid into the passenger seat and shivered as she buckled her seat belt.
"All set?" Harry asked as he put his hand on the gear shift. Eden nodded as they pulled away from the curb heading down to the end of her street.
"Where are we off to?" Eden asked as she looked out the window before looking at him. Warm air blasted out of the vents and she mentally thanked him for having it on the highest setting.
"I said I'd take you out, didn't I?" He asked as he briefly looked at her before returning his eyes to the road.
"Oh right! Sorry, my mind must be somewhere else." Eden said as she shook her head, laughing at her stupidity. She heard Harry chuckle beside her before he mumbled.
