I huff as Maddie ties some rags around my wounds, The air is getting even cooler and I know we need to get home soon. The scent of danger makes me growl out loud.

The woods spread silent messages round that only the animals know, the wind picks up making it more colder than if it was snowing.

"Lets go, take it easy brother" Maddie says, she waits until I nod.

We set off through the woods, shadows trick me at every corner and I regret having to walk with Maddie through the woods. Every little movement makes me jump into action. Maybe it's the silver making me so jumpy.

I see our house in the distance but it has a bright orange glow around it. I start running, I ignore the pain that running gives me and I make it to our house that is on fire.

"Ellie!" Maddie yells as she tries running into the house.

I block her way, I won't let her die just for her dog. I hear both dogs barking, mine and Maddies.

"Please, you can't just let them die. Bailey Please!" Maddie sobs.

I huff as I try to stop her getting in the burning building. I realise that she won't stop until our dogs are safe. They are like pack to us and I push her before I dive into the building that was once our home.

I run up the stairs, which are buckling from the heat. My paws burn as I reach my room. Looking around I see the fire has not reached here yet and the dogs are at my window.

I pick up a back pack with my muzzle, the heat is nearly overwhelming but I phrase anyway. Once the phrase is done I grab some clothes, mine and Maddies. The dogs whine as the fire grows nearer, I shove the window open and throw my mattress to the ground.

I urge the dogs to jump but Ellie won't, my dog jumps for his life as the fire breaks through into my room, trapping me and Ellie in. She whines like crazy as I grab onto her and jump.
