AUTHOR'S NOTE: Congratulations to PawPatrolSkyeXChase ! You're story was really interesting. Amazing ideas and very creative. Overall, great job!
Since only one person entered, there are no 2nd or 3rd place winners. That's fine. There'll be other contests, but for right now, here's my version of Chapter Ten. Enjoy!
"Chase! Come back!" Rubble yelled. He was in his construction truck, chasing Chase across the bridge. Chase had transformed his pup house into his police car and was now taking a joyride through Adventure Bay.
"Ah-roo!" Chase howled as he sped down the road.
"Marshall, he's headed into town!" Rubble said.
"Rocky, you hear that?" Marshall asked.
"On it!" Rocky was in Skye's helicopter, following Chase from the sky.
"Pups, try to keep him off the main roads," Marshall barked. He watched Skye's camera following Chase from Rocky's computer. "Chase! You need to pull over, now!"
Ignoring him, Chase picked up the speed. "He's headed towards Jake's mountain!" Rocky yelled. "Rubble, go back to the Lookout. You're car isn't good enough to drive in the snow."
"That's not good, there's a storm rolling in!" Katie said.
"Did you figure out what's wrong with him?" Marshall asked.
"Humdinger gave him caffeine, and a lot of it," Katie said.
"But that's poisonous to us!" Marshall yelled.
"Not for Chase. Whatever happened in that explosion a few months back changed him. He's immune to things that are normally poisonous to dogs. It might explain why you and the other pups can talk too."
"So, if it's caffeine, it'll wear off?"
"Eventually. But we have to get him back. Remember earlier when he was loopy and complaining of a headache? That's called a crash, and it's going to get worse before it wears off."
Marshall gulped. "How worse?"
"He just went down Jake's Mountain!" Rocky yelled.
"Jake!" Zuma yelled as he arrived. "I need you to drive me to Chase."
"Sure thing, dude." Together, they raced down Jake's Mountain, catching up to Chase.
"Get me closer!" Zuma said. Jake drove his snowmobile as close as he could to Chase. Zuma jumped onto Chase's car and it swerved a little. "Chase! Let me drive!" Chase snapped at Zuma, swerving the car even more. "Alright! Alright! Focus on driving! Rocky, I need a little help here!"
"If you can get his wench, I can attach Skye's hook to it and slow you guys down!" Rocky said.
"Do it!" Marshall could see the storm rolling in from the Lookout. "And hurry!"
Zuma managed to press the wench button, even as Chase kept swerving his car to avoid trees and rocks. Rocky lowered the hook and attached it to the car. When Zuma gave the thumbs up, Rocky pulled the helicopter back. Chase went flying in the air, only for Jake to catch him. "Meet us back at the top," he said, placing Chase in his jacket. He was shivering and shaking, having calmed down somewhat.
Rocky towed Chase's car with Zuma inside back up the mountain and made it just in time for the storm to start. "Is everyone alright?" Marshall asked through his collar.
"Yeah, we're good," Rocky answered. Jake was holding Chase in his lap, not letting him scamper off. "Chase is still pretty hyper, but the cold slowed him down a little. Jake's got him."
