Silo ran around the building as fast as he could. I've got to distract them somehow. He started barking wildly, trying to get the guards attention. I could lead them to the other side, away from the pack.

"Sir," one said into his radio.

"What is it?" Humdinger asked. "Did you find them?"

"No, Sir." He turned to Silo, who was still barking like mad. "It's your... wolf, Sir."

"What's the matter?"

"He's barking wildly, like he's trying to tell us something..."

"Hmm..." Humdinger hummed. "Half of you go with him. The other half, defend the perimeter." He looked at his watch. "I'll be in the lab. Don't let those blasted pups get away this time."

"Roger th-" The guard stuttered. "I'm sorry, Sir."

"Just... just go." With a heavy sigh, Humdinger walked out of him room, pausing to look at a photo. It was he and Roger when they were younger. "I know you meant well, but... this is too important to me." Checking his watch, he quickly left the room, slamming the door behind him.

Outside, Silo ran as fast as he could into the woods, not waiting for the guards to keep up. Once he lost sight of them, he paused to catch his breath. He sat back on his haunches, leaned back and let out a loud howl.

"Silo," the Alpha muttered.

"What did he say?" Rocky asked.

"He's luring some of the guards away. There's still a group surrounding the building." He looked at Chase and Marshall. The two pups looked at each other and nodded.

"Skye," Chase said. "Don't fly in until my signal." He turned to Rocky. "You're going up." Rocky nodded, getting his harness ready.

"Zuma, you and a group of wolves are going to distract the remaining guards," Marshall said. Zuma nodded. "The rest of us..." He looked at the Alpha. "We're going in."

Zuma and five wolves approached the base cautiously. "Fire at will!" a guard yelled. Darts began shooting all across the pavement. They fled together into the forest. "They went this way!" The guards followed them, taking the bait.

Marshall nodded, motioning for the rest of the pack to follow. One by one, they entered. Once they reached the lobby, the Alpha pried open the second tunnel. The wolves entered. Chase and Marshall stayed behind.

"Skye, now!" he barked.

"Copy," she said. She lowered Rocky into the vents. He gulped, recalling the previous encounter. Slowly and cautiously, he made his way down through the shaft. "Anything?"

"Negative." Rocky sniffed the air, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.

Back on ground level, Chase and Marshall kept their eyes peeled for the guards. Both of their senses were heightened and on alert. "You scared?" Marshall asked.

"No," Chase lied. "You?"

"Of course not," Marshall lied. They both knew they were lying. They could smell fear. "What happens if Ryder isn't here?"

"He has to be here," Chase growled.

"But if he isn't?"

"Then we capture Humdinger."

"Capture?" Marshall turned. "What happened to taking him down?"

Chase sighed. "We found out he has a daughter. We can't just kill him and leave her without a father." He looked away.
