DISCLAIMER In this part of the story, they will be going after the Slytherin Locket. In the original plot, Regulus Black took it, but in my story, it was never taken and is still in the cave where it is currently hidden. ______________________________
The next morning dawned with a strange quiet. No birdsong. No wind. Just the faint crackling of Astra's protective wards and the distant hum of Hermione's barrier spells.
We sat in a loose circle around the remnants of the shattered cup, its cursed pieces still faintly smouldering inside a sealed jar. No one really wanted to look at it. Proof of what we'd done. Proof of what was still to come.
Pansy was the one who finally spoke.
"The locket is next."
Hermione nodded, already unfolding another worn map, her brow furrowed in concentration. "It's still in the cave—same one Dumbledore and Harry were meant to go to but never went. There's a rumour that a member of the Noble House of Black once tried to get it but failed."
Everyone slowly turned facing Regulus. He sighed and said, "Yes, it is true. I don't remember who exactly happened before we were born, but he failed and came back severely injured but was kicked out of the family because he tried to turn against the Dark Lord. But he did leave a diary."
"We need that diary.", Blaise said.
"No need I've read it before."
"Perfect.", Hermione.
Minutes later Regulus explained everything he could remember from the diary.
"........it's still in the sea cave—untouched. Same protections. Blood barrier. Cursed lake. Inferi."
"So basically, a day at the beach," Dahlia chirped from where she was perched on a mossy rock, braiding her hair and looking entirely unbothered. "Do we at least get cocktails after?"
Ron snorted. "Yeah, if the cocktails are served by flesh-eating corpses."
"Oh, lovely," Dahlia said with a grin. "Nothing like a little seaside cannibalism to spice things up."
I ignored her—mostly—and focused on Regulus. "So we go in, retrieve it, and get out?"
Regulus hesitated. "The basin that holds the locket—it can only be emptied by drinking the potion that covers it."
"Hmm..."
"If we want to get the locket we need to apparate now because the weather changes and the tides near the cave become stronger."
"You're right," Harry said.
"Can someone other than Theodore apparate us," Draco said
"Hey! What's wrong with the way I do it?"
"I don't know.... MAYBE YOU ALMOST KILL US EVERYTIME?!"
"Boys enough, I will do it.", Astra said.
Everyone gathered close, seconds later we were all standing by a cliff.
