Chapter 2

I shook my head to the silly day dream.  There was no way that could ever happen now since I was of course strigoi.  I looked up to the moon and saw all the little craters.  Even I squint just right I could even see the flag.  I loved being strigoi.  I never thought I could love anything more than this, well except Dimitri.  Ahhh, Dimitri, I missed his soft pale face.  The thump of his veins running through his neck.  Then I even missed sweet, stupid, blond Lissa.  Now if I could get to her veins that would be something.  Maybe I should start at the beginning?  Yeah that's what I thought.

A week ago my school was raided by strigoi, at the time being a guardian, I went to fight them.  Well, trying to protect the Moroi I so loved, I was taken and a strigoi showed me this new life.  Of course, I killed after I turned.  I didn't need him I could already feel the power in my veins.  Well that brought me here, to the small shop owned by an elderly women.  I had come in a few times before to check out their contact lenses.  See, I planned on going back to the school and finally becoming the best strigoi out there, by killing my former best friend, Lissa.

"Well, hello there Rose.  Have you finally come to buy the wonderful lenses.  I still don't see why you won't stick to the red one's.  You look so beautiful with them."  I smiled at her and laughed, little did she know tonight she would be my prey.

"Actually, yes I'm finally ready for them."  As I handed her the cash she traded with me for the contact lenses.  I simply put them in my eyes and smiled at her again.  "Thank you so much.  You just made this so easy for me."

"What was that dear?"  I smiled at her and jumped.  She flew back trying to scream but it was to late I had already sunk my teeth inside her precious neck.  The blood flowed through my mouth and I felt myself losing control.  Soon I heard the soft heartbeat die down and she left this world.  I wiped my mouth and took every duplicate lenses I could find.

This was the start of something that no guardian would ever be able to control.
