"Dimtri?" He let me go and took out his contacts. He was one of them. The man I loved, he was strigoi.
"Rose you shouldn't have come really. This isn't how I wanted to end your life, I wanted to at least give you a chance against me." I backed up into Ryan and fell grabbing the stake in my hand.
"Dimitri I will kill you." He smiled at me bending down to my level taking the stake out of my hands.
"Rose you don't stand a chance against me. You couldn't bring me down when I was a guardian what makes you think you'll be able to now that I am strigoi." I stood up looking him in the eyes.
"Because when you were a guardian I had no reason to kill you. Now I do. I won't let you feel the way I felt." I grabbed the stake from his hands and plunged it through his chest. "Dimitri I love you. I always will." As he fell I walked out and back to the academy. I packed a bag and walked to the credit cards that Adrian had given me. I cried silently as I realized everyone I cared about was about to be left behind. I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen.
Dear Lissa,
I'm so sorry. I have to leave you now. I know what your parent's wanted but that can't happen now. Let the school know that Dimitri is dead. And so you can understand what I feel, Dimitri and I were in love. The night of the raid we had made love. When I came back and you saved me I refused to let him into my heart so I took Adrian. I found out tonight that strigoi had Dimitri and I went to kill them. I didn't realize it was a trap. Dimitri had been turned and was going to kill me so I had to kill him. Lissa, I am sorry that I'm leaving you. But if this is what being a guardian takes, killing everyone you love and care about, I will now be able to do that if the time came with you. I will always love you Lissa. Let Christian protect you, he knows everything he needs to know to save you. I'll send you letters every now and again so you can know I am still alive.
