Chapter 23- Regret

~Haley's P.O.V.~

"No, please don't do this!"

I closed my eyes and felt something burning on my leg over and over. I slightly opened my eyes to see them slowly pouring a hot bucket of water on my leg. I screamed in pain as they poured more and more making my skin boil. I struggling go get out but it was only making things worse. The water was stinging into my insides and it felt like I was on fire. I yelled in agony

"Please! Please stop!"

I sat up from the bed gasping and breathing heavily. I felt my palm almost sweating. I closed my eyes for a second and I felt a hand touch my waist

"Haley it's ok"

I still breathed heavily in and out. He moved his hand on my back

"It was just a dream" Daryl said

I shook my head and looked at him "Don't you see, it wasn't a dream. It was a nightmare"

"Your safe okay, your safe"

He laid back down as I laid next to him. I laid my head on his chest. It took me awhile before I fell asleep but eventually I did

I opened my eyes and stretched as I sat up from bed. I looked next to me but Daryl wasn't next to me. I washed up and walked outside to see Daryl keeping watch

"You let me sleep in" I said approaching him

"You needed it" He said looking at me then back at the fences "You okay?"

The wind was blowing and it blew my hair back. I ran my fingers through my hair back "I gotta be"

"That's my girl" He kissed my forehead before grabbing my hand "Come on, let's go get breakfast"

We walked off and headed to the rest of the crowd eating outside. Carol handed me a plate at Rick called at to Daryl. He kissed me on the forehead before walking off to Rick. I walked over to Tyler and sat down

"What's up bro?" I asked nudging him

"What happened?"

I looked at him bewildered

"Elena" He said trying not cry

I looked down at my plate

"Haley"

"Tyler I- I tried to save her" Tears surrounded my eyes

"You don't have to say anything else"

"Do you think she's in a better place" I asked

He put his arm around me "Yes, she's waiting for us, when our time is right"

I nodded "Which is scary because it could be any day"

"Really Hales?"

"What? We're living in a zombie apocalypse"
