Chapter 53- Hallelujah

~Daryl's P.O.V.~

We had our guard up. Even though we were inside now. It doesn't matter. Rick went inside to talk to Deanna. While we waited outside. They made us turn over our guns. After we began walking to the house. Everyone got freshened up expect me. We checked out the houses making sure they were safe enough. Before we went Deanna interviewed me. Not that I cared. We all stood around the house as the sun was beginning to set. Aaron walked up

"Daryl" He spoke out

I looked up at him

He smiled "She's gonna be so happy to see you" He said before walking away

I looked at him baffled. I turned to Rick but he just shrugged. I sat down and waited. Then she came. With crutches. Haley. I gasped and stood up, she approached quickly. I embraced her and she sobbed. As did I. I cupped her face "Hi"

"I can't believe it's you. How did you find me?" She asked

"We didn't know you were here. Some guy Aaron brought us in"

She nodded "He's a good guy"

I hugged her once again tightly and we walked to the steps of the house

"I see they've taken care of you" I said

She nodded "It feels not walk on this foot for couple days"

Rick laid his hand on her shoulder and he smiled at her

"It's good to see you" She said as she laid her hand on his hand

Everyone was already in the house

"Come on. Let's get some rest" Rick said as he walked in

I looked at Haley's beautiful face and took her hand "Haley. I forgive you"

A smile formed on her face

"But it doesn't mean I will forget what you did"

That smile quickly turned into a frown. She looked down and nodded

"Hey" I said picking her chin up to look at me "But I ain't never gonna forgive myself for not being there when you got separated, again. And I lost you. Once again"

She shook her head "You were upset. There's no reason for you to be sorry"

I sighed "Hales"

"We're here. Together, we made it"

She leaned in and we kissed. God I missed this girl. We went up the steps and inside. She greeted everyone and we all sat around in the living room. I sat next to her and held her hand. Maggie approached us wth a guitar she found

"Why don't you play something for us" She said handing it to Haley

Haley happily grabbed it and Maggie walked back to Glenn. She glanced at me, smiled and began to strum the guitar

Well I've heard there was a sacred chord
David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

I can't tell you how peaceful this was. To hear her astonishing voice again. Hearing her sing. Her voice was pure. Smooth, just amazing. And it was all okay, we were all okay. Hallelujah.

It was silent afterwards. Everyone was at peace. Because Haley's voice and song just drew us all in. Relaxed all of us

"That's beautiful" Rick said nodded

Haley smiled "Thanks" She laughed "Honestly Rick I just can't get used to seeing you like that"

Everyone chuckled. Rick had finally shaved all his beard off. He looks younger, better.

~Haley's P.O.V.~

"Hey I'm gonna go use the restroom" I said so Daryl

He nodded "You need help?"

"Nah. I got these babies now" I said grabbing the crutches. He chuckled and I stood up and took off. After using the restroom I hobbled off back to the living room. Everyone began to lay down and fall asleep. Now they can. We have walls to protect us. I laid down but Daryl continued to stare out the window. I stood up and put my arms around his neck and sat on his lap.

"It's okay you know"

"Yea I know" He said

I brushed his bangs slightly out of his face. I knew I couldn't get him to come lay down. So I kissed his forehead and wobbled back to lay down. I took a deep breath. My family is here safe and sound. We're here together, that's all that matters. But yet I'm afraid. Why do I have this gut feeling this good peacefulness will only last a little while. This feeling just isn't going away. Am I going to lose one of my family members if we go out there. Outside the walls. I just hope I'm wrong about this feeling.
