~Haley's P.O.V~
We kept going for who knows how long. No one knows anything anymore. The only thing we know is to keep moving. Me and Glenn were on a mission to find our family. And our loved ones. We were walking on the road when I felt someone begin to walk next go me
"So where are we headed?"
I looked to see Glenn
"Trying to find Maggie and Daryl"
"So why are you in the front of us?" He asked
I didn't stop walking "Because I don't like Abraham"
"Really Haley?"
I scoffed "Look what he did to you"
"Come on Haley"
I stopped in my tracks and looked at him "Thanks to him were further then we were before. Now nothing is going to stop me from getting to Daryl. Sure as hell not these guys!"
He just stared at me. I looked foward and kept walking and didn't stop. I don't care if they are way behind. I heard some talking but I didn't look back. So many thoughts were always running through my mind. Did he get out alone? Or was he with someone? All I needed was to find him. And I wasn't going to stop walking until I do.
~Daryl's P.O.V~
We kept wondering through the woods until I looked at her
"What?" She asked as she stopped
I looked down at my crossbow then back at her
"You want to learn how to hunt and shoot this thing?"
A smiled formed on her face "Yea"
We continued walking as I taught her a little how to hunt and how to hold the crossbow. She aimed the crossbow and aimed at something random for now
"Are we close?" She asked holding it still
"Almost done" I responded
"How do you know?"
"The signs are all there. Just gotta know to read 'em"
She dropped the crossbow and took a couple steps foward "What are we tracking?"
"You tell me" I said following close behind her "Your the one who wanted to learn"
She looked down and noticed something, I could tell "Well, something came through here" She followed the steps quietly "The pattern is all zig-zaggy. It's a walker"
A smiled formed on her face. I rubbed my small beard "Maybe it's a drunk" I joked
"I'm getting good at this" She said picking the crossbow back up "Pretty soon I won't need you at all"
Pffh smart ass I thought
"Yea keep on tracking" I said spitting on the ground before I kept walking behind her
We came upon snarling. Yup. It had its back to us. Eating his lunch
"It's got a gun" She said excitedly and looking back at me
I nodded at her. She raised the crossbow up and slowly but quietly approached it. I stayed back watching. She was making progress until she stepped on a booby trap. It snapped her boot and she gasp as she fell down. The walker turned around and snarled as it dropped it's food and began to her. She raised the crossbow and shot one but it hit the mouth not the brain. I ran quickly towards her as it was only a few feet away. I grabbed the crossbow from her and ran to the walker. I hit it in the face and it thumped to the ground. I dropped the crossbow and ran to her side. I undid the trap and freed her ankle. Only one problem
"Can you move it?" I asked
She tried moving her ankle but it wasn't much success "Yea"
I knew she lied
"Come on" I helped her
We kept walking around the woods looking for an exit. Thankfully we reached a cemetery that had a big building. It looked vacant
"Can we, can we hold up a sec?" She asked holding her leg
"You all right?" I asked
"I just need to sit down"
I looked at the building and thought of something. It isn't that far "All right hold up" I said as I put the crossbow on my back but transferred it to the front.
I exhaled and bent over waiting for her to jump on "Hop on"
"Are you serious?" She asked
"Yea" I said "This is a serious piggyback ride. Jump up"
She jumped up and settled herself as I began walking towards the building
"Your heavier than you look" I said
I stopped to readjust myself until I kept waking again
"Is Haley this heavy?" She asked
"Shut up" I joked softly as we kept walking
"Maybe there are people there" She said
"Yea, if there are I'll handle them" I said
I was hoping so badly Haley would be held up there but I highly doubt it. We kept walking until Beth looked at a gravestone and I stopped as she hopped off. She was looking at a stone and it read "Beloved father". I looked at her then at the gravestone. I turned to see flowers planted. I ripped them from the ground and walked over to put them on the gravestone. Hershel, may he rest in peace. I walked backward next to Beth. I got surprised when she held my hand. But we both needed this. Someone to lean on, we both missed someone so deeply. But I knew her more because she witnessed her father's death. She squeezed my hand as I squeezed hers back. Man I miss Haley so much. We both stared at the gravestone. I took a glance at the house before looking back at her then the gravestone. I'm going to find her. I'm so determined, and nothing going to stop me. But I knew something had to go wrong here. I won't find her without something happening. I could feel it. But I couldn't figure out what it was.
