The Walking Dead [Daryl Dixon]

Chapter 51- Once again lost

~Daryl's P.O.V.~

Hot. It was hot, we were all out, we had nothing else.

"I'm gonna head out. See what I can find" I said handing the gun I had to Rick

"Hey don't be too long" Rick said grabbing the gun

"I will go with you" Carol said

"Nah I got it" I said walking away

"You gonna stop me"

I turned around to look at her before I headed to the woods and she followed me. Once we cleared the woods we headed to a big open field. No luck

"Anything?" She asked

"No its too dry. There ain't nothing here" I said still looking at the ground

"Maybe we should head back" She suggested

"You go"

I continued to walk a few steps.

"Are you going to forgive her?"

I didn't look at her and didn't say a word. But I slowed down from walking

"You should"

"I ain't gonna do nothing"

"Your upset I get that but Daryl she's just as upset. She's heartbroken"

I stopped walking and turned to her "How do you think I feel? I'm the victim here not her. She's the one who tried to kill herself"

"Because she was lost. She lost herself Daryl you have to understand that. We've all been through that road. You have to understand. She knows how much you love her. And you need to know how much she loves you. You have to feel it" She brushed some of my bangs to the side. She brought my head down and kissed my forehead.

I was stunned. But it didn't take me awhile to realize how right she was. We began to walk back until we heard low snarling. We walked up closer to see Rick and the others fight off walkers. One was about to bite him in the arm when my instincts kicked in and I killed it. Once we were done I looked around frantically for Haley and I saw her with Carl, Eugene, Judith, and Gabriel. I sigh of relief flew over me. No matter how big of a fight were in or how upset I am with her. I'm always gonna look out for her. No matter what. Later as we kept walking I went out again this time without Carol. I needed space. I was out for awhile just thinking. I began to walk back to the group. They were all sitting on the side of the road, drained. Full of starvation, we all are. I made it through the woods and the group looked straight up at me. I made noise as I went through.. oops. I looked at Rick and I shook my head. He looked back down. I walked and looked at every single one of them. And no Haley. God dammit, not again

"Where is she?" My voice began to get stern and worried at the same time

Everyone stayed silent

"God dammit where is she?!" I yelled this time dropping my weapon

Carol stood up and approached me "There was a herd coming our way. We all manged to get to the woods but she was behind us. I think her foot slowed her down, the herd was almost surrounding her. We couldn't go in without all of us going down. Daryl it doesn't meant anything okay. She's still alive, just possibly lost. It's been 30 minutes already"

I was starting to get fed up, my eyes filled with rage and I threw the biggest tantrum "Not again!" I walked and paced a good few feet from the group. Carol tried to comfort me but I shrugged her off. She knew now to leave me alone. God I can't believe this happened again. Why do I keep losing her? And to herd of walkers or people kidnapping her. But this happened because I wasn't with her, I wasn't here to protect her. Instead I just blew her off. This is my fault. All this. If I were there to protect her none this wouldn't have happened. She would still be here. She has to he alive. Has to be. Because if not, I'm never going to forgive myself. God why am I such an idiot. I picked up a rock and threw it as hard as I could to the woods. I didn't give a shit if it attracted a walker. I just Haley back. I want her here. I sat down instantly and let my head down. Sobbing to myself. Again, I've lost her.

~Haley's P.O.V.~

I couldn't find my way back. I was lost. If I ran towards the direction I knew the group was in I was running straight into the herd of walkers. My knees were giving in, my foot had already given in. But I knew I had to keep going. I was able to run from the herd, able to get away. I was already getting ready to fall. I almost did but then I suddenly had hope. I noticed a sign and an arrow pointing. I followed the direction of the arrow and it led me to a enormous metal fence. I held myself together trying not to fall when suddenly the door began to open.
