Mal and I left class. That's when we heard, "Hey, Mal! What's up, Maddie? Love my hair, Mal!"
We jumped and saw girls across the hall. Jay was smiling at them. He walked towards us and said, "Are you feeling kind of weird about this? I mean, it's not so bad here, you know?"
I glared at him and muttered, "I liked it better when they ignored us." And then I raised my voice. "Have you gone insane? Long Live Evil!"
Mal said, "You're mean, you're awful, you're bad news!"
I snapped my fingers in front of his face. "Snap out of it!"
He blinked as if waking up from a daze. "Thanks, girl. I needed that!"
He walked toward the railing above the courtyard. I rolled my eyes.
We walked down the hall and saw Audrey talking to Ben. "It's gateway magic. They start with the hair, and then they do the lips, and then the legs, then the clothes, and then everyone will be beautiful and where will I be?"
I rolled my eyes. Mal whispered to me, "You got the cookies?"
I took them out of my bag.
Audrey said, "Bye, Benny-boo!"
I gagged. Mal nodded to me and walked away. I walked past him and toward my lockers. I opened my locker and subtly closed it. I said, "Hey, Benny-boo!"
Ben said, "Hey."
I said, "I just made a batch of cookies!"
I added, "Double chocolate chip. Do you want one?"
Ben said, "Oh, I, uh, I've got a big game. I don't eat before a big game. But thank you so, so much. Thank you. Next time."
"No, yeah..." I put on a fake sad face. "I completely understand."
"Yeah," I said, "I mean, who were we kidding? No one trusts the villain kids. Everyone in Auradon must know that."
Ben stuttered, "No, no, no--"
"No, i get it." I said. "You're cautious. That's smart. Oh, well, more for me..."
I took a cookie and was about to bite into it, when Ben swiped it out of my hand. Ben took a bite and said, "See? Totally trust you. Totally."
I moved out of the way before it got out of hand.
"How are they?" I asked
"They're good!" Ben said. "They're great! They're amazing!"
He laughed and talked about how good the cookies were.
Ben stopped and said. "Maddie, have you always had those little golden flecks in your eyes?"
I giggled.
Jay said, "How're you feeling, bro?"
"I feel...I feel...I feel like I could sing your name!" He sang to me. "MADDIE!"
I covered his mouth a with shocked face

The bleachers were packed and I barely found any room to sit. The cheer squad was jumping.
The announcer said, "We've got forty-seven seconds on the clock; we're all tied up! The Sherwood Falcons; two. The Fighting Knights; two. What a game between Auradon's fiercest rivals!"
Your fiercest rivals are US, Auradon. Don't replace us.
The announcer continued. "The Dragoneers have been laying down with a hail of fire, and now a substitution. He's bringing in that hothead, Jay, from the Isle of The Lost and that little guy, Carlos, who can barely hold his shield."
I glared at them.
For once, I was impressed. Carlos was doing way better than I thought he would. I stopped paying attention.
"Excuse me!" Ben yelled into the mic, waking me from my thoughts. "Excuse me! Attention, please!"
The crowd became quiet.
"There's something I'd like to say," Ben said. "Give me an 'M'!"
The crowd yelled, "M!"
Ben yelled, "Give me an 'A'!"
The crowd yelled, "A!"
Ben yelled, "Give me an 'D!"
The crowd yelled, "D!"
Ben yelled, "give me another 'D!"
The crowd yelled "D!"
Ben yelled, "give me an 'I!"
The crowd yelled, "I!"
Ben yelled, "give me an 'E!"
The crowd yelled "E!"
Ben yelled, "What does that spell?!"
The crowd, in a confused tone, yelled, "MADDIE!"
"COME ON!" Ben yelled, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
The crowd yelled, "MADDIE!"
"I LOVE YOU, MADDIE!" Ben yelled, "DID I MENTION THAT?!"
I awkwardly smiled. Lonnie grinned at me. Evie squealed. Mal gave me a wicked grin. Audrey ran away with a horrified look on her face.        
Ben yelled, "GIVE ME A BEAT!"
I whispered to Mal, "please make him stop?"
Mal smirked saying, "No."
Doug from the marching band yelled, "UNO, DOS, QUES, QUATRO!"
Lonnie said, "Oh, my gosh! Cookie! What was in that cookie?!"
I lied, "Ben must like chocolate chips."
Ben sang, "Did I mention...That i'm in love with you. Did I mention...There's nothing I can do. And did I happen to say? I dream of you everyday But let me shout it out, if that's okay ay ay. That's okay
I met this girl that rocked my world like it's never been rocked. And now I'm. living just for her and I won't ever stop. I never thought it can happen to a guy like me. But now look at what you've done, you at got down on my knees.

I looked at the shirt that Ben tossed me. It was his jersey. I turn back to Mal, with an expression on my face that was unreadable. She said, "I think this love potion has gone way over the top."
I said, "You think?"
Ben ran up to me. "I love you Maddie, did I mention that" he said.
"A few times" I said. He tried to kiss me but I moved the jersey and giggled.
He gave me a big hug.
Audrey took the microphone. "Chad's my boyfriend now and I'm going to the coronation with him, so I don't need your pity date."
Mal wrapped an arm around Evie's shoulder, and judging by the look on her face, she wasn't happy about it. Someone go get a box to put her heart in. I mean, someone comfort Evie!
Ben asked me, "Will you go to the coronation with me?"
I yelled into the mic, "YES!"
Ben yelled, "SHE SAID 'YES'!"
Everything is going according to plan.
