Daniel's POV

Olivia and I sit down in one of the booths. We are at Mel's, the place I wanted to take Kate to.

I still can't believe we kissed. A smile makes its way onto my face just thinking about it.

Ever since that night Nick invited Kate over, my feelings for her slowly crept back.

I've wanted to tell her how I felt, but two things were stopping me: my girlfriend, and my best friend who had liked her up until recently.

What changed my mind? I have no idea.

"What are you getting to cheat?" Olivia asks me.

"What?" I say alarmed.

She gives me a weird look and repeats her question. "What are you getting to eat?"

I sigh in relief. "Oh. I don't know."

Olivia reaches across the table and holds my hand. "I'm really glad we're doing this. I wouldn't have kissed it."

"Kissed it?" I say, biting my lip.

"Missed," she emphasizes. "Are you feeling okay?"

I take a sip of my drink. "Just tired, that's all."

The waiter approaches our table. "My name's Scott. What can I get for you guys?"

Olivia begins to order as he takes out a notepad and pen. "Sorry to interrupt, but our special today is a cheatburger with free lies on the side."

The guilt is getting to me. I can't handle this anymore.

"That's it," I say, standing up and slipping out of the booth.

I walk out of the restaurant with a confused Olivia trying to catch up with me, and a speechless waiter still standing at our table.

So much for keeping it cool.

Kate's POV

Nick and I had done a lot of work to find Olivia's schedule. And I mean, a lot.

We drove down to where she works, talked with one of her friends at the shop, and were finally able to obtain her hours . . . after Nick promised to go out with one of her friends.

He wasn't too happy, considering he didn't have a clue as to what she looked like, but was willing to do anything in order to help his best friend . . . even if it meant going on a blind date.

We get back to Nick's house, with Olivia's schedule in my purse, and decide on watching a movie on Netflix.

All is well until halfway through the movie, there are violent knocks on the door.

Nick opens it up, his smile quickly fading. "Hey, Daniel. What's wrong?"

"Nothing," he mumbles. "I forgot my key."

Outside, I hear Olivia calling him. She rushes in and stops him before he goes any further.

"Daniel, what's going on?"
