Dear Diary,

That was the best thing that has ever happened to me. No one has ever made me this special or important before . . .

"I don't know what to say. That was so sweet of you," I tell Alex and give him a hug. "Thank you."

He hands me the fifth rose, and I smile up at him. "You're welcome. I'm sorry I left you at the ice cream shop."

"It's okay," I laugh. "This is far better."

We walk hand-in-hand back to my house, and I look over at him. "So, the secret Matt found out was that you like me?"

"Yeah," Alex says turning a tint of red. "Does Matt know that you found out yet?" I shake my head, and he smirks. "I've got an idea."

.

"Matt, I'm home," I say walking through the front door and following through with Alex's plan.

Matt immediately walks toward me and gives me a hug. "How was it? What'd you do?"

I shrug my shoulders. "Not much. I don't think I'll go out with him again."

Matt smiles but quickly covers it up. "Oh. Why not?"

"I told him that I like someone else."

Matt's eyes grow wide as he stares back at me. "Are you saying . . . "

I pause, "I like you. But could we talk about this outside?"

He eagerly nods his head and rushes out the door, only for him to get soaked by water balloons. Alex smiles up at me, and Matt turns around in anger.

"How could you?" he says.

I just laugh at him. "You tore my best friend and I apart. I will never forgive you for doing what you did."

Matt storms off, and Alex comes up to me with a wide grin plastered onto his face. He wraps an arm around my waist, and I rest my head on his shoulder. "I like you," I say.

"I like you too."

"I missed you."

"I missed you more," he challenges.

"Prove it then," I say turning my head toward him. Our faces were only centimeters apart.

Alex takes a deep breath. "Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Of course."

.

Sitting in my room as I work on homework is quite boring. The words were blurry, and I thought I was seeing double.

"Sophia, can you come down here?" my mom asks.

"Sure," I reply. I stand up from my bed and make my way downstairs. My head was pounding and everything seemed a little blurry; I could barely walk. What was wrong with me?

My mom comes over to me, catching me just as I'm about to fall. "Are you okay?" she asks, holding my face in her hands.

I shake my head. "Something is wrong with me, mom." Something drips onto the floor, and I see that it's blood. "Mom, my nose is bleeding," I tell her.

She quickly grabs ice and paper towels, handing them to me. "We're going to the doctors."

My mom helps me into the car and lays me down in the backseat. I felt horrible and didn't understand what was going on. I was perfectly fine earlier when I was with Alex.

.

I hate hospitals. It smells weird, everything is the color white, and there's patients everywhere. It makes me sad because I realize that so many people have problems of their own.

Why can't the world leave us alone and let us live in peace?

Doctor Reynolds calls my name, and my mom and I enter his office. He asks me a couple questions and then runs tests on me to make sure that I'm healthy. He says that the tests will take a couple days to be ready and that until then, I should stay home.

"Thank you, Doctor," my mom says as she helps me walk out of the hospital.

"My guess is that you're dehydrated and haven't had a decent meal today. You'll be fine in no time," my mother reassures me. "Everyone gets sick once in awhile," she tells me.

I nod my head. Her words were definitely helpful; I'm feeling a little better than I was before.
