Kate's POV
April 27, 2023
The next day, unlike any other, started off with me getting ready and then walking over to Daniel and Nick's house. A cup of coffee already waiting for me, I take a sip, savoring every last bit.
"Good morning," Daniel says.
"Morning," I reply, turning around to find him shirtless. "Where's your shirt?"
He gives me a confused look. "Didn't Nick tell you? We're going to Pacifica today."
"He must've forgotten. I'll go home and change."
I rush back, trying to forget Daniel's abs, and change into my bikini, slipping a sundress over it and a pair of sandals on my feet.
After, I pack my beach bag with sunblock, a towel and my phone with some cash in the back of my case.
"I'm back!" I yell.
We all bring our bags out to the car and climb in.
"We have to make a quick stop," Nick says and stops a couple blocks down. He gets out of the vehicle and walks toward a green-colored house.
I turn and look over at Daniel who looks just as confused as I am. Moments later, Nick walks out with a beautiful girl clinging to his side.
"Guys, this is Tori. Tori, this is Kate and Daniel."
She smiles at the two of us and sits next to me in the back. "Nice to meet you."
The ride over, the two of us become engrossed in varieties of topics. Have you ever met that one person who you can tell everything to?
That's how I felt about Tori. I've known her for seven minutes, yet it feels as if I've known her for seven years.
.
You know that moment when you're finally relaxed, and then someone comes along and ruins it?
I do.
I was lying down on the soft, sandy beach, whilst reading a new book and trying to get a tan, when I felt a drop of water on my stomach.
"May I help you?" I ask, as Daniel leans over me, the corners of his mouth tugged upward.
He grabs my book and tosses it aside. I scowl at him.
"Swim with me," he pouts.
I roll my eyes and push him away. "Later."
Daniel leaves me alone but moments later, the book is knocked out of my hand once again and I'm met with a bucket of cold water.
"Daniel Zachary Mayer, you are so dead!" I shout at him.
He runs away, and I chase him. As soon as I'm near the shore, Daniel picks me up and throws me into the air. The water makes contact with my body, and I am freezing.
"Sorry," he smirks.
Seeing how cold I am, Daniel leads me out of the water and back to our spot on the beach. He hands me a towel and wraps his arms around me, bringing me closer.
"I missed you," he whispers and plants a soft kiss on my forehead.
And I missed him too.
.
I was cold, tired, and dying for a warm shower. As soon as we pulled up outside of our houses, I waved goodbye and ran inside.
Shower done, I get ready for my dinner with Daniel, Nick and Tori.
I apply my makeup, straighten my hair, and decide on a white-laced dress with a pair of brown-strapped heels.
"Are you ready?" Daniel asks from outside my bedroom door. I knew giving them a key would come in handy.
"Just one sec," I reply as I grab my phone and stuff it into my purse.
I open the door, and his eyes widen. "Do I look that bad?" I ask.
Daniel clears his throat, shaking his head. "No, it's just- You look beautiful."
"Oh. Thank you."
We walk out to the car, Nick waiting impatiently while Tori is smiling at me because of Daniel. We climb into the backseat and strap in.
"You look hot," Tori says as she turns around.
"Stop it. You look amazing," I reply. It's crazy to think I've only known this girl for a day.
Tori faces the front, and Daniel wraps his arm around me, pulling me closer.
"You know, she wasn't wrong," he quietly says into my ear, making my cheeks burn.
Looking back eight years ago, I think it's amazing how Daniel and I are together again. Maybe it's fate, maybe it's hope- all I know is that this boy drives me crazy, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
